BLACK SUNDAY (UR)
AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL PICTURES (1960)

Starring: Barbara Steele, John Richardson, Ivo Garrani, Andrea Checchi, Arturo Dominici & more.

BLACK SUNDAY is an Italian Horror movie from the 60's from director Mario Bava. The film also
stars the one and only Queen of Horror Barbara Steele. The story line for the film is nothing new or
original, by todays standards, but this was done over 50 years ago, so it was some what original at the
time. The story is of a witch who was executed and has returned centuries later to seek revenge on the
descendants of the executioners. The film is not a real blood fest or that scary, but it is kind of creepy
and spooky. The old black & white really works well with setting the mood and darkness. The camera
angles and shots add to all of this as well. The film has been said to be a classic, which after one
viewing I can see why. Plus the fact of the beautiful Barbara Steele playing dual roles is an added plus.
This film has also set the pace and been a inspiration for future movies to come. If you like old Italian
Horror and cool creepy old black & white films like the old classic
UNIVERSAL MONSTER movies
then you'll love this film.
