|Interview by Burt Wolf with Chris, vocalist for BURN IN SILENCE.
Interview done April 6th, 2007.
PLEASE GIVE A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BAND UP TO THIS POINT? ANY PREVIOUS BANDS
MEMBERS WERE IN BEFORE?
So we had some members who are no longer members. Then we got the new members (Andy, Pete & James) &
they are great people & great musicians who work very hard & really believe in what we are trying to do. Our
history is not nearly as important as what our future holds. That is what I am most excited about.
WHY WAS THE NAME BURN IN SILENCE CHOSEN AS THE BANDS NAME?
To be completely honest, there really is no major significance to the name. We just liked the way it sounded.
WHO OR WHAT HAS HELPED IMPACT YOUR LIFE & CREATING YOUR MUSIC?
Well obviously, everyday life, the problems we all face, the injustices that we see, as well as literature & the
support & love from all the BURN IN SILENCE family members around the country & world.
YOU GUYS TEAR DOWN MANY BOUNDARIES WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR MUSIC STYLES. HOW
WOULD YOU BEST DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE & SOUND?
For me personally, I like to think that we are able to take the sensibility of Hardcore & the technicality of Metal &
put them together to create something that is as technical as it is hard hitting & brutal.
YOUR NEWEST ALBUM "ANGEL MAKE" HAS BEEN OUT FOR A LITTLE WHILE NOW. HOW
WELL HAS THE RESPONSE BEEN TO IT?
Absolutely incredible. Both from the critics & from our family members all over. We are very proud of the album
& all the hard work that we have done touring to promote it.
THIS IS YOUR DEBUT WITH PROSTHETIC RECORDS. HOW DID YOU GET HOOKED UP WITH
THEM & HOW HAS IT BEEN WORKING WITH THEM SO FAR?
I will go with no comment on that. I would rather not talk about it.
CAN YOU EXPLAIN THE COVER ARTWORK FOR THIS ALBUM & WHO DID IT?
Marcos Solo did the artwork for the album. We gave him the title & the idea of the cover being an 70's style
horror movie poster & let him run with it. He did a great job.
WHAT IS SOME OF THE LYRICAL CONTENT IN YOUR SONGS? WHO DOES THE MAJORITY OF
I do the majority of the lyrics. The majority of them are personal to me. I do encourage everyone to take what
they can from them in their own personal way.
HOW DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE IMPROVED AS A BAND SINCE YOUR EP "PURE AS YOUR FIRST
DAY" TO THE NEW ALBUM?
It's really hard to say since we are literally a new band since then.
WHAT WERE SOME OF YOUR SHOWS THAT REALLY STICK OUT THE MOST & WHY?
Every show has something that sticks out. From the kids who drove several hours to be at shows, to the kids
who sing louder than I do during the whole show. From Lancaster, Ca. to Metropolis, IL. From Austin, Tx. to
Fargo, ND. We have family all over the country.
ARE THERE ANY TOURS PLANNED FOR THIS YEAR?
We plan on touring like crazy. I love being on the road & visiting all the family members.
WHAT IS ONE THING YOU THINK PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRISED TO FIND OUT ABOUT YOU?
I used to teach swing dancing.
ARE YOU INTO ANY OTHER STYLES OF MUSIC BESIDES WHAT YOU PLAY? WHO ARE SOME
OF THE BANDS YOU HAVE CURRENTLY BEEN LISTENING TO?
I listen to a lot of different styles as does everyone in the band. We don't like to limit ourselves in what we listen
to. If it's good music, it's good music.
WHAT WAS THE FIRST ALBUM YOU REMEMBER BUYING? WHAT WAS THE FIRST CONCERT
YOU WENT TO?
1st album was VAN HALEN "1984" & the first concert was AGNOSTIC FRONT.
WHAT DO THE MEMBERS OF THE BAND DO WHEN NOT DOING ANY WORK FOR THE BAND?
Everybody works our day jobs causing being in a touring band is expensive & we do have to eat.
WHAT CAN WE LOOK FORWARD TO NEXT FROM BURN IN SILENCE?
Lots of touring & we will begin writing for the next album.
WHAT WERE YOU DOING BEFORE ANSWERING THIS INTERVIEW? WHAT WILL YOU DO NOW
THAT IT'S DONE?
I was at work before & will be going to bed when I'm done.
THANX FOR TAKING THE TIME TO DO THIS INTERVIEW. ANYTHING THAT I LEFT OUT THAT
YOU'D LIKE TO ADD, FEEL FREE TO DO SO. THANX!
I just want to thank you & all of our family for the love & support & we will see you soon.
