CALL OF THE VOID
"DRAGGED DOWN A DEAD END PATH"
RELAPSE RECORDS

"DRAGGED DOWN A DEAD END PATH" is the debut release from Boulder, Colorado's
CALL OF THE VOID. These guys blend a lot of styles together to create their sound,
which is hard to place them in a certain genre. The best place they would fit would be in the
Grindcore category. They do build off the Grindcore genre, but add in elements of Punk,
Thrash, Death Metal & even some touches of Sludge or Doom. They have  a very aggressive
and harsh sound that reminded me of a lot of the Grindcore that was coming out of the
Czech Republic in the '90's. There is a crusty Punk sound that runs through a lot of their
songs too. The small influences of Thrash come in play in some of the grooved out guitar
parts, while the faster more blasting drums remind me of old school Death Metal from the
'90's. When they slow it down a little, which isn't often, they mix a few Sludge / Doom
Metal parts. For the most part they are a spastic, pissed off sounding Grindcore band
though. The vocals are done in that crossover style of Death / Grincore. This a killer
Grindcore band that I hope sticks around for a long time and we get many future releases
from. This is a must for fans of
ALIENATION MENTAL, CEREBRAL TURBULENCY,
INGROWING
& FOUR SEATS FOR INVALIDES!
