| YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN AROUND SINCE 1994, BUT I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE BAND. COULD YOU GIVE A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BAND SO FAR. HOW YOU GUYS FORMED? ANY PREVIOUS BANDS YOU WERE IN? DECEIVERS began it's career on August 1994 in Brazil's capital city as a Thrash Metal band. It's own music style would be defined some years later with Hip-Hop & New York Hardcore influences. After the release of the band's first demo tape "REDRUM" with distribution superior to 4000 copies through the whole world, on August 1999 it's debut album totally independent "THIRD MACHINE" was released. WHY WAS DECEIVERS CHOSEN AS THE BANDS NAME? The name was suggested by our first guitarist. I think it sounded really good at the time. WHO OR WHAT ARE SOME OF THE THINGS THAT HAVE HELPED INFLUENCE YOU IN MUSIC & IN LIFE? I believe that heavy music is one of them. YOU GUYS BLEND ELEMENTS OF DEATH, HARDCORE & NU-METAL TO CREATE YOUR SOUND. HOW WOULD YOU BEST DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE & SOUND? Basically we play Metal with some other heavy music elements. We think that music is fusion. Fusion of many different styles & influences. We like many things & we could not designate our style by a determined one. So we like to play what we play loud, fast & extreme. |

| "THIRD MACHINE" IS THE ONLY ONE OF YOUR CD'S I HAVE, WHICH CAME OUT IN 2002. HOW WELL HAS THIS CD BEEN DOING? WHAT WAS THE RESPONSE BEEN LIKE? "THIRD MACHINE" helped us a lot! We had awesome reviews, great concerts & festival invitations & good esposure to the world's heavy music market. THIS ALBUM WAS ORIGINALLY RELEASED IN 1999. WHY THE DECISION TO RE-RELEASE IT? |
| It's independent copies were sold out, so we decided to look for a label to re-release it in a remastered version. THE RE-RELEASE WAS PUT OUT BY 53HC RECORDS LABEL & SHUTDOWN RECORDS. HOW DID YOU GET HOOKED UP WITH THEM? HOW WAS IT WORKING WITH THEM? They shown real interest at that time. They made a good promotion on it too, that's why our new album "EVERBREATHE" was recently released by 53HC in Brazil. CAN YOU EXPLAIN THE MEANING BEHIND THE COVER ART A LITTLE BIT & WHO DID IT? The art direction was made by our first drummer Andre "Embass" along with the band. I thnik that it can express the album content perfectly...from the music through the lyrics. WHAT DOES THE COOL LOOKING SYMBAL THAT APPEARS ON THE CD & YOUR BIO MEAN & WHO DESIGNED IT? It was designed by Embass too. It's liars ancient stone symbol mixed with other elements. WHAT IS SOME OF THE LYRICAL CONTENT OF YOUR SONGS? We don't talk about any specific or pre-determined subject. Our lyrics are about things we feel, like or dislike when we're writting them. That's the way we like to do it. THERE ARE TWO HIDDEN TRACKS ON THE END OF THIS DISC. wHAT ARE THOSE TWO TRACKS CALLED & WHAT ARE THEY? WHAT IS WITH ALL THE SREAMING & LAUGHING ON THE LAST ONE? They were a relaxing time at the studio. We started to record some bullshit thing & that was the result! YOUR NEW ALBUM "EVERBREATHE" (WHICH I MUST GET) WAS RELEASED THIS YEAR. HOW WELL HAS THIS CD BEEN DOING FOR YOU? "EVERBREATHE" is our newest son. "EVERBREATHE" was recorded & mixed by Gustavo Vazquez id Sao Paulo, Brazil. In it's production the band spent more than 400 hours to explore the entire studio's potential. Looking for the best to be done. "EVERBREATHE" album was mastered in New jersey at West West Side Studios by Mr. Alan Douches (SEPULTURA, CHEMICAL BROTHERS, SICK OF IT ALL, THRICE & HATEBREED). The result was very pleasant. WHAT LABEL WAS THIS RELEASED ON OR IS IT AN INDEPENDENT RELEASE? ARE THERE ANY OTHER LABELS INTERESTED IN DECEIVERS? IF SO, WHO? It was released & distributed in Brazil by 53HC RECORDS, but the band payed for it's production. We are really interested in getting world wide distribution, so we are working hard on promotion. HOW DO YOU FEEL YOU HAVE PROGRESSED SINCE "THIRD MACHINE" TO "EVERBREATHE"? HOW DOES THIS ALBUM DIFFER FROM THAT ONE? The new one is "one step ahead" in my opinion! The production, the songs, the lyrics. This is a mature work for us. |

| YOU'VE APPEARED ON A LOT OF COMPILATION RELEASES. CAN YOU TELL US SOME INFORMATION & WHAT COMPILATIONS YOU WERE ON? The band left it's mark in many national & international compilations (including "NEW METAL" from TRIP MAGAZINE with distribution superior to 120,000 copies & including in it's cast bands from the label CENTURY MEDIA, such as KRISUN, STUCK MOJO, ICED EARTH, NEVERMORE & SHELTER). |
| YOU WERE MANAGED BY STRICTLY HEAVY MANAGEMENT BASED HERE IN THE U.S. HOW DID YOU GET HOOKED UP WITH THEM? HOW IS IT WORKING WITH THEM? ARE YOU STILL WORKING WITH THEM? We got in touch with them before we lived in the U.S.? They helped us a lot, but we are not working with them anymore. I KNOW DECEIVERS HAS PLAYED ALOT OF FESTIVALS & OTHER SHOWS? WHO ARE SOME OF THE BANDS YOU'VE SHARED THE STAGE WITH? WHERE ARE SOME OF THE PLACES YOU'VE PLAYED? The band started a national tour, which included presence in many open air festivals. the best example is Porao Do Rock 2000 (broadcasted by local television & radio, attracted over 70,000 people). DECEIVERS also made part of it's 2002 edition in the main stage together with SEPULTURA, REDOX & other important Brazilian artists. The festival attracted about 100 thousand people. This year (2005) the band played again at the festival, releasing the new album "EVERBREATHE". In the U.S., DECEIVERS performed live in pubs & concert halls such as Hard Rock Cafe & Beverly Center & Club Lingerie at West Hollywood. ARE THERE ANY ROAD/LIVE/TOUR STORIES THAT ARE INTERESTING OR STICK OUT FOR ANY REASON TAHT YOU COULD SHARE? The road is really a magic/tragic moment for a band...but I can't remember any special story to talk about right now. WHAT DO YOU FEEL IS THE BEST & WORST THING ABOUT BEING IN A BAND? The best thing: Express your music & heart. The worst thing: To get your work respected & known in the middle of the false market. WHO DO YOU FEEL ARE SOME OF THE BETTER BANDS. LABELS, ZINES, ETC...FROM BRAZIL? We have really awesome bands like SUBTERA, UDORA (living in the U.S.), QUESTIONS & DFC. We have great labels such as 53HC & LIBERATION RECORDS. HOW WOULD YOU COMPARE THE MUSIC COMING OUT OF BRAZIL TO THE MUSIC COMING OUT HERE IN THE U.S.? Talking about heavy music, the bands from Brazil don't have a market like the American ones. It's really difficult for a Brazilian band to get exposure because of that. But the American market is always looking for a band to make money & get into radio stuff, this kind of fashion heavy looking, it sucks. ARE YOU INTO ANY OTHER STYLES OF MUSIC BESIDES WHAT YOU PLAY? WHO ARE SOME THE BANDS YOUR CURRENTLY INTO? No, I just have DECEIVERS...(since 1994, I'm tired HAHAHEHEHE!) |

| DO YOU REMEMBER WHAT THE FIRST ALBUM WAS THAT YOU BOUGHT? WHAT WAS THE FIRST CONCERT YOU EVER WENT TO? First album: VENOM - "AT WAR WITH SATAN" Fiirst concert: Brazillian band RESTLESS WHAT DO THE MEMBERS OF DECEIVERS DO WHEN NOT DOING ANY WORK FOR THE BAND? OTHER JOBS, HOBBIES, ETC...? We work in different jobs...but we drink a lot!!! WHAT IS ONE THING PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRISED TO FIND OUT ABOUT YOU? I don't know...I have six cats in my house! |
| THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE 9-11-01 ATTACKS IN THE U.S. JUST PASSED. DO YOU REMEMBER WHERE YOU WERE & WHAT YOU WERE DOING WHEN YOU HEARD ABOUT THIS? DO YOU HAVE ANY THOUGHTS OR COMMENTS ON THIS TRAGEDY? I was in my house when it began. It was really tragic. Terrorism is a coward act! WHAT CAN WE EXPECT TO SEE NEXT FROM DECEIVERS? We are divulging the video for track "EVERBREATHE" & spreading the new album world wide. We hope to get back in the U.S. soon! WHAT WERE YOU DOING BEFORE THIS INTERVIEW?
