| I KNOW EMBEDDED HAS BEEN AROUND FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS, BUT COULD YOU GIVE A CONDENSED VERSION OF THE BANDS HISTORY? I started EMBEDDED back in 1994 as a three piece. After a self titled demo release in 1996 & a couple of shows all across Germany the band unfortunately split up in 1998 because of musical differences. But already one year later I decieded to give the whole project another go, with three new recruited members. With this line up we recorded the MCD "FRAGMENT OF HORROR", which was released in 2000 & gained us quite a lot of enthusiastic attention with in the Death Metal underground pretty quickly. Two of the songs also appeared on a split 7" with DISASTROUS MURMUR, released by PERVERTED TASTE RECORDS shortly after. With a slightly changed line up (a new vocalist & second guitar player joined EMBEDDED), we finally entered the studio to record our debut full length "BANISHED FROM THE LIGHT". It was released in 2001 by REVENGE PRODUCTIONS. Again the reactions were very enthusiastic. But a few successful months later, very heavy personal differences in the band caused another line up change. To prevent the final split of EMBEDDED, the second guitar player & the bass player had to leave the band. They were replaced shortly after by two friends of mine-which were involved in their own band at the time, too-just play some gigs. That worked out very well & after their band finally split up they joined EMBEDDED. So currently we are working hard on a new CD. |
| WHY WAS THE NAME EMBEDDED CHOSEN FOR THE BAND NAME? It is simply taken from the words "...embrionic death, embedded in your brain, suffocation, strangulation, death is fucking you insane..." ("Silent Scream"-SLAYER). At first i just liked the "sound" of the word, it's very easy to keep in mind & you can scream it out loud even if you are totally drunk, ha, ha, ha... But in this particular case the context in which it is used was the main reason to choose the name for the band: to be in someone's brain, doing something ugly & disturbing there with your music, currupting the senses & manipulating the will, the soul. Something like this, you know. We are the tiny little voice in your head, forcing you to do things you normally refuse to do... |
| WHO OR WHAT HAS HELPED INFLUENCE YOU IN CREATING YOUR STYLE & SOUND? In the early days of EMBEDDED I was heavily inspired by bands like (old) DEATH, UNLEASHED, MORGOTH, VADER & ASPHYX & just wanted to play music quite similar to theirs: simple & brutal-straight-in-your-face-old-school Death Metal! Now we are often compared with MALEVOLENT CREATION, DEICIDE, SUFFOCATION & MONSTROSITY & i think that fits quite good. I adore these bands & I can't & won't deny their influence on my style & sound. But the main influence on my music is the need to over come with all the band & negative things in my life. I force this into my music & that is like therapy for me. it's hard to describe. Other people beat the shit out of each other-I play Death Metal, to put it this way, ha, ha!!! HOW WOULD YOU BEST DESCRIBE THE STYLE & SOUND OF EMBEDDED? Fast & brutal, yet catchy Death Metal that will break your neck. Just get in the pit & let the mayhem begin... WERE ANY OF THE MEMBERS OF EMBEDDED IN OTHER BANDS BEFORE? WHICH ONES? |

| Our second guitar player Christian & our bass player matthias were in a local band called BOUND FOR TOMB before. They played a mixture between melodic Death & Black Metal & the band split up about a year ago. Our drummer Jorg played in a band called MORBUS. They sounded like GOREFEST & released two CD's before they split up in 2000. I think. He is still the drummer of SECRETS OF THE MOON, a local but quite popular Black Metal band, too. Rainer does his screams & grunts in a local Death-Grind band called THE VAST, too. Besides Christian plays there. I just put my whole energy into EMBEDDED. No side projects or something. I ONLY HAVE YOUR "BANISHED FROM THE LIGHT" CD WHICH CAME OUT IN 2001 ON REVENGE PRODUCTIONS. HOW WELL DID THAT CD DO FOR YOU GUYS? It gained us a lot of enthusiastic reactions, which really over whelmed us, & more possiblities to play live especially outside of Germany. It helped us out very much in spreading our name in the scene. it simply pushed us to a higher level. |
| HOW DID YOU GET HOOKED UP WITH REVENGE PRODUCTIONS? We played the "FUCK THE COMMERCE"-Open Air about three years ago as the opening act & Daniel was very impressed by our music, our performance & the quite enthusiastic reactions of the audience. So he asked for our MCD, listened to it & offered us a deal. |
