| DESCRIBE A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE CD COVER ART & WHO DID THE ARTWORK? At first we didn't have any idea of what the CD should "look" like, there was only the title "BANISHED FROM THE LIGHT". We just knew we dind't want to have any typical blood & gore stuff as cover art, we wanted something unusual, something different. Then we found this picture of Jesus & there was this little twisted idea: You believe in God? You believe in Jesus? he is your savior? He is your sense of living? But what if your savior isn't the one you thought he is? What if your saviour is a two faced betrayer with a demonic side hidden in the darkness? A seducer, banished from the light? the serpent-& not the son of God? So we made a painting look a like out of this picture, something like a modern icon. You can see the tormented upper part of his body very clearly, like a obvious symbol for all the pain & suffering he endured for us(well, the bible says so), but the face, mainly the eyes - the "mirror of his soul" - are hidden in darkness so you can't barely see them. And then you start questioning yourself, you start to doubt: Who really is he? I know this semms to be a quite religious message, but we are not a religious band. We just used Jesus as a universal symbol to ask everybody the simple question: What if everything you believed in & lived for so far is nothing more than a fake, a lie, a dream that will never come to reality? the cover art was done by a friend of our vocalist. She is very experienced in working with Adobe Photoshop & did it for free. I think she did an excellent job because it was very difficult to change the original picture of Jesus into that drawing you can see on the cover of our CD. |

| WHAT IS SOME OF THE LYRICAL CONTENT OF YOUR SONGS? Mainly it's about someone who is losing his mind & the grip on reality, tormented by voices in his head, trapped in a mental maze, confused & unable to find a way out of this situation, reacting in uncontrollable acts of aggression & violence ending up in an unbearable state of self loathing with it's fatal consequences. Well, sounds sick? You bet, it is... We decided to print excerpts from the lyrics in the CD booklet to give the listeners only a hint of what's really going on in the song - they have to listen closely to capture the real atmosphere of every song on the album. It's like a script for the musical experience, if you know what I mean. |
| DO YOU HAVE ANY NEWER RELEASES AVAILABLE AFTER THIS CD & ARE YOU GUYS STILL WITH REVENGE PRODUCTIONS? No, just the demo, the MCD (both sold out) & the split 7". We are very slow in writing new songs & the quite frequent line up changes in the past didn't make it easier. Well, you can't enfoce creativity. Sometimes we don't get a single riff within two months & sometimes we write two new songs during one rehearsal. Besides this we are very fastidious when it comes to new songs. When everybody in the band is really satisfied with the song it's done, if not, okay, some more work to do. It's kinda weird but that's how it goes. Our next CD will definitely be released by REVENGE PRODUCTIONS. We are very satisfired with the work Daniel does! No restrictions in any way, fair conditions, great support - nothing more to say. More than we've ever expected. YOU DO THE VOCAL WORK IN THE BAND, HOW DO YOU CHANGE BACK & FORTH BETWEEN THE LOW END GROWLS & HIGHER PITCHED SCREAMS? DOES THIS HURT YOUR VOICE OR EFFECT IT IN ANY WAY? (Rainer the vocalist was originally going to do the interview, but passed it on to Andre, since he is the only original member left in the band.) As far as I can answer this, I think it's a kind of breathing technique or something. No effects, now low pitched shit, no harmonizer or something. He never had any problems with his throat! rainer's voice is simply incredible & in my opinion definitely of international class. |

| YOU GUYS HAVE A STRONG TIGHT TECHNICAL & MATURE EXPERIENCED SOUND. ARE ANY OF YOU PROFESSION-ALLY TRAINED MUSICIANS OR SELF TAUGHT? DO ANY OF YOU PLAY OTHER INSTRUMENTS BESIDES WHAT YOU PLAY IN THE BAND? Oh thanks! Well, everybody in the band is just a self taught musician, no professional training or something. I can't even read notes or play any scales by heart, no joke. Since I started playing guitar I just wanted to play songs & fucking rock in a band, you know. That hasn't changed over the years. Everybody who is involved in EMBEDDED started very early playing in a band & I think this might be the main reason for our sound as you |
| described it. Christian plays bass-guitar, too as I mentioned before & Rainer plays drums, but not in a band. He just practices for himself. HAS EMBEDDED PLAYED OUT A LOT? WHERE ARE SOME OF THE PLACES YOU'VE PLAYED & WHO ARE SOME OF THE BANDS YOU DID SHOWS WITH? Unfortunately we don't play live as much as we really want to because of our jobs & studies. So we often try to get gigs with well known bands or at festivals to reach a greater audience if possible. Up to now we played several gigs all across Germany, did a small tour in Finland, played in Sweden & in the Czech republic. Some of the cool bands we shared the stage with are: DISAVOWED, GOREROTTED, PUNGENT STENCH, SINISTER, ROTTEN SOUND, KRISUN, CRYPTOPSY, KRABATHOR, PYAEMIA, SEVERE TORTURE. |
