"ILL BEGOTTEN MEANS"
DIGITAL MEDIA RECORDS
This was my first time experiencing ENEMO J, and what a great experience it was. These
guys melt together so many killer extreme music genres to create their sound and they pull
it off very well. They put a twist on the Modern Metal formula and add in their own
flavouring. The main foundation of their music would probably be Nu Metal, but they are
in no way a typical Nu Metal band. They add in touches of Thrash & Death Metal with
touches of Modern Metal, Hard Rock & even some Gothic Metal and Hardcore as well.
Some of the really killer grooves reminded me of Nu Metal, but they have a harder more
aggressive Hardcore edge to it. Then they mix in some crunchy crushing guitar riffing which
is where the Thrash metal shines. When they get a little faster and more chaotic is where the
Death Metal comes in. Once they slow down some of the flow of the music it tends to get a
little more melodic and Gothic sounding with some Hard Rock from the 70's thrown in. The
vocals tend to follow the same pattern as the music and run through a lot of the genres too.
They have fast paced rough Thrash type vocals, thick low ended Death growls with some
killer chant a long Hardcore chorus' then some flowing mellow Goth like vocals. Here is the
run down of bands that kept popping in my head when listening to these guys: SLIPKNOT,
MUSHROOM HEAD, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, (HED) P.E.,
EVANESCENCE, GODSMACK, SOULFLY, LIFE OF AGONY, TESTAMENT,
SPINESHANK, IN THIS MOMENT, OTEP, H2O, MUDVAYNE & DRY KILL
LOGIC. I know that's a lot of bands, but that's what I kept hearing. Take your favorite parts
from all of the bands above and ball them up into one super sound and this is what ENEMO
J delivers. Some really killer, crazy sounds, but they pull it off perfectly. This is a band that
truly needs to be heard to be fully appreciated! So get this now and slam away!!!
