HIGHLORD
"THE WARNING AFTER"
PUNISHMENT 18 RECORDS

HIGHLORD started out back in 1996 under the bands original name of AVATAR. They
soon changed their name, got a new singer and solidified their Italian Power Metal sound.
These guys have perfected their style and sound over the years and it is ever so present on
their newest release "THE WARNING AFTER". Even though they plant their foundation
in the Power Metal genre they do have some touches of Prog Rock / Thrash Metal and
some Traditional Heavy Metal influences present. The guitar work of Sted has a very cool,
clean and crisp Thrash / Power Metal vibe. There are some thick grooves that come through
on the bass and a strong solid drum sound. Every instrument is well balanced and nothing
over powers one or the other anywhere in their music. These guys are a total unit and
everything meshes well together to create one hell of an outcome. The arrangements and
structures of a lot of the songs is what really brings everything together and gives it that
Prog Rock / Metal sound. The vocals done by Andy are done in a melodic Power Metal
style with some mid ranged Thrash vocals mixed in every once in awhile. These guys
remind me of
RHAPSODY blended with CIRCUS MAXIMUS with bits of
QUEENSRYCHE & SPHERIC UNIVERSE EXPERIENCE topped off with some
RUSH. These are all amazing comparisons in my mind and if you think so too, you must
pick up this release and search out the bands back catalog. One truly amazing release from
the first song to the last!
