HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP is one of Horror master Roger Corman's classic films from the
80's. Roger Corman has done some killer Horror picks in the past like BLOOD FEAST & 2000
MANIACS. This pick takes things in a slightly different direction. A scientific experiment goes wrong
and turns out some horrific mutations that are half man half fish creatures. The creatures are not what
you think though. They look more like a poor mans version of the SWAMP THING mixed with
SIGMUND & THE SEA MONSTERS. The creatures start to terrorize a small town and then mate
with all the young hot women of the town. The film comes off as being more campy than scary. There
is very few death scenes and are no where near as bloody or gory as what we are used to from the
master of gore. From what I've read about this film, Roger Corman wanted to add lots more gore and
nudity, but the studio cut most of it out. Even though this is not one of Corman's best flicks, it's still a
coo film and I would have loved to seen the version that Roger Corman wanted to make! I'm sure it
would have been much gorier and more violent.
