INVINCIBLE FORCE
“SATAN REBELLION METAL”
DARK DESCENT RECORDS
I had high hopes going into this next one. A band coming from a country whose Metal
scene rarely disappoints, coupled with a label that produces godly records too. I think
we're in for something good! From Chile come INVINCIBLE FORCE. A band both
wearing their affinity for German Thrash Metal on their sleeves and in their title, admitting
to taking their moniker from the DESTRUCTION classic. This, their debut full length,
was backed up by 2008’s “BLACK RITUAL” demo and a couple of split releases.
“SATAN REBELLION METAL” is getting the royal treatment too. Being released on
CD, digitally and on vinyl by DARK DESCENT, an additional CD version being issued
on MUSHANTUFE PRODUCTIONS from Chile and, god bless ‘em, ON CASSETTE
by DESTRUKTION RECORDS from Germany (seeing a pattern yet????). The tape
even coming with bonus tracks taken from their split with NUCLEAR STRIKE in 2011.
Their pedigree is none too shabby either, having members who've sharpened their knives
with acts like ANCIENT CRYPTS, EVIL MADNESS, the legendary APOSTASY and
even ACHERON (US)! Three paragraphs in, the question remains…can this band cut it?
I’ll tell you. I go through lots of records. At times, its hard to keep up with listening to
everything thoroughly. This one though has been a staple on ye ‘ole MP3 player for a
couple months now. I can listen to old DESTRUCTION all day and all night… The only
real problem with DESTRUCTION, the old stuff didn't last for long. With “RELEASE
FROM AGONY“, DESTRUCTION “jumped the shark” in my book (although their 21st
century material is decent). INVINCIBLE FORCE take the baton from those hallowed
Germans smoothly and run with it, and what’s even better it doesn't sound stunted or
forced whatsoever. It really seems to flow forth from these guys. Additionally “SATAN
REBELLION METAL” is far from an exercise in Teutonic Thrash Metal masturbation.
They add their own flair to a recipe that’s ripe for experimentation, and they do it without
venturing outside the Black / Thrash Metal genre. The only negative aspect to this one is
the brevity. With 8 songs in just under 25 minutes. I could have definitely used another 10
songs at this rate, but my mom always told me, “always leave ‘em wanting more” and
that's definitely the case here. The “Recommended If You Like…” demographic cuts a
pretty wide swath through the meatiest part of the Metal underground. Taken from the
obvious start with the German gods like old DESTRUCTION and old
NECRONOMICON, right through the realms of DESTROYER 666, GOSPEL OF
THE HORNS and DESASTER. Most importantly, this band does it effortlessly and
fluently. Like I said before, Chile never disappoints, and INVINCIBLE FORCE are proof
positive of that.
