MORFIN
"INOCULATION"
FDA REKOTZ

MORFIN started back in 2010 out of California and they play old school Death Metal
music. They have a style of Death Metal music that started back in the late '80's and early
'90's. The music is a combination, in my mind, of three different styles from the good old
days and that's Floridian, New York and California Death Metal. They have that old
brutal Death Metal that reminded me of early
OBITUARY like "SLOWLY WE ROT",
along with early
CANNIBAL CORPSE "EATEN BACK TO LIFE", early
SUFFOCATION with touches of BOLT THROWER, BROKEN HOPE & GORGUTS
all tossed in the mix. The music was just super fast, super tight and ultra brutal. This was
in my opinion the best times of Death Metal music. I love all the breakdowns, the stop
and start parts as well as the tempo changes. You can also hear a lot of Thrash Metal
elements, especially in the guitars, which is around the time when Thrash was morphing
into Death Metal music. Jesus Romero's vocals reminded me a lot of John Tardy's vocals
on the early
OBITUARY albums. OBITUARY has always been one of my favorite Death
Metal bands, so I was really digging
MORFIN a lot. These guys have taken Death Metal
back to where it belongs, in the dirty underground scene, not in the public eye like it has
become.
MORFIN is one of my newest favorite bands and I can't wait to hear what they
do on their next outing!
