ALIEN VS. PREDATOR (R) 20TH CENTURY FOX (2004) Theatre
Starring: Sanaa Lathan, Raoul Bova, Lance Henderiksen, Ewen Bremner, Colin Salmon & more
This is one movie I was waiting to be made & I know there was a lot of talk for years. Now that it was here, I was a little worried if it was gonna be good or not. The movie startes out a little slow, but kicks in & is very good from there on out. There are a bunch of archeologist & scientists who discover a hidden pyramid underground in Antartica. Once they are in the pyrimad they discover this isn't like any other pyramid known. There are tons of alien & predator symbols & art all over the walls. They soon discover that the predators are warriors who built this pyramid & hunt the alien creatures. The two species do battle all through out the movie to see which one will take over the earth. All this time the humans are caught in the middle! The special effects were great & so was the story. They left the movie open for another one. If you like any of the movies from both series, you'll most likely like this film!!! -

ANCHORMAN: THE LEGEND OF RON BURGANDY (PG-13) DREAM WORKS (2004) Theatre
Starring: Will Farrell, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, David Koechner & more.
This is one movie I saw a lot of previews for & couldn't wait to see. I've seen a lot of movies with Will Farrell & loved everyone. This one was no different. Will is an anchorman in the 70's who is the hottest thing on TV. All men want to be him & all women want to be with him. Ron's life is thrown into chaos when the station hires a female news women, played by Christina Applegate. She really wants to be an anchor woman & does what she can to get the job. Ron does what ever he can to stop her. There were a ton of really off the wall & really funny parts in the film. Christina Applegate was actually really funny in it as well. The guys that work on the news team with Ron made the movie though! If you like any of Will's other films, especially
OLD SCHOOL, then you'll love this one!!! Another good film!!! - www.ANCHORMAN-themovie.com
BOURNE SUPREMACY, THE (R) UNIVERSAL PICTURES (2004) Theatre
Starring: Matt Damon, Franka Potente, Brian Cox, Karl Urban, Joan Allen & more.
I remember when I first saw
THE BOURNE IDENTITY, I didn't expect to like it, but I loved it. I couldn't wait for this movie. At the end of the first film Jason Bourne warned them not to come after him or he would hunt them down. In this film the government sends a special agent to hunt down & kill him. Once jason figures out he is being targeted again he takes the battle to them. There were a lot of bizarre & strange twists in this film. I'm not big into government type films, but loved both of these films. This one seemed to have more dramatic action all through out. There are a bunch of surprising things that happen as well. The movie was also left open so there could be a possible third film made. I hope there is!!! If you loved the first film your going to really enjoy the second one!!! - www.THEBOURNESUPREMACY.com
CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, THE (PG-13) UNIVERSAL PICTURES (2004) Theatre
Starring: Vin Diesel, Colm Feore, Thandie Newton, Judi Dench, Karl Urban, Alexa Davalos & more.
This was one of those films that looked like it could be really good or really bad. Vin Diesel is Riddick who first was brought to life in the movie
PITCH BLACK. He is a lone warrior who has some special powers. An alien race is set out to enslave a planet of people & they seek Riddick for help. Of course he won't help at first, but then is tossed in the middle of the battle. There are a ton of great special effects & the story line was actually pretty decent as well. The way the movie unfolds, they kind of leave it open to a thrid part. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this cause Vin Diesel is kind of a stale actor, but this part kind of played into that & worked. I will still probably pick this up once it comes out on DVD!!! - www.THECHRONICLESOFRIDDICK.com
DAY AFTER TOMORROW, THE (PG-13) 20TH CENTURY FOX (2004) Theatre
Starring: Dennis Quaid, Jake Gyllenhaal, Emmy Rossum, Dash Mihok, Jay O Sanders & more.
Dennis Quaid plays a scientist who studies icebergs & ice caps. After an expedition in Antartica & a close call when one of the huge ice caps seperates & breaks off, the end is near. He goes to inform the government, that another ice age could be on it's way in the near future. What they don't realize is that it hits within days. This event throws all the weather patterns into chaos all over the world. This causes earth queakes, floods, panic & histeria everywhere. New York City gets hit by a tidal wave & is sunken under water, but then the ice age hits & everything gets frozen over. The freeze over hits so fast that people were frozen in their tracks. The big thing in this film was the special effects of course. This is a scary thing to see, because if this ever happens, the human race is screwed!!! -

DEATH METAL: A DOCUMENTARY MUSIC VIDEO DISTRIBUTORS (2004) DVD
This was a very cool surprise to have in my review pile. I have been into the Death Metal scene for over 15 years now & loved this DVD. This is the story of Death Metal as told by the artists themselves. The documentary was put together by Bill Zebub of
THE GRIMORE OF EXALTED DEEDS. The documentary doesn't give a history of Death Metal, but submerges you directly into the Death Metal scene. There are tons of interviews, live footage exclusively to this DVD as well as some video clips. Some of the bands include IMMOLATION, MALIGNANCY, CARCASS, SUFFOCATION, AMON AMARTH, MORTICIAN, GOD DETHRONED, NECROPAHGIA, SEANCE, DERANGED, TZEFA, RAIN FELL WITHIN, Dan Lilker of BRUTAL TRUTH & Pete Steele for his days of CARNIVORE!!! A must for any Death Metal fan!!!
DISMEMBER - LIVE BLASPHEMIES NAVARRE CORPORATION / ESCAPI (2004) DVD
This is the first DVD release for one of the pioneers in the Death Metal music scene. These guys play balls out Death Metal music & should be known by anyone in the Death Metal scene. The DVD is of a concert recorded in Stockholm Sweden in 2003. The performance contains 10 of their best songs all done live. The two disc DVD also includes their first ever performance, biographys on the band, discographys, image galleries, interviews & lots more. This is a great DVD that gives some coverage of the bands 16 years in the Death Metal scene! A must for any fan of this band!!!
DODGE BALL: A TRUE UNDERDOG STORY (R) 20TH CENTURY FOX (2004) Theatre
Starring: Vince Vaughn, Christine Taylor, Ben Stiller, Rip Torn, Justin Long & more.
I'm a big fan of Ben Stiller & Vince Vaughn & to see them both in a movie together was hilarious. Vince plays Peter who owns a small run down gym, which mostly losers are members of. Right across the street is a huge gym called Global Gym, run by White played by Ben Stiller. White wants to expand his gym by buying out Peters gym & knocking it down. In comes lawyer Kate (Christne taylor) to try & settle this buy out. Peter is way behind on all his bills & needs $50,000 to pay them off or he will lose his gym to White. They enter the dodgeball tournament to try & win the grand prize of $50,000. Of course there are a ton of funny mishaps & other crazy things that happen all through out the whole movie. I was laughing the whole time, just on how goofy Ben Stillers character was. If your a fan of any of Ben's other movies your going to enjoy this one a lot!!! One of the funniest movies he's ever done!!! -

EXORCIST: THE BEGINNING (R) WARNER BROS. (2004) Theatre
Starring: Stellan Skarsgard, Izabella Scorupco, James D'arly, Remy Sweeney, Julian Wadham & more.
I wasn't sure if I was going to really enjoy this movie or not. A lot of times when they try to play off of an original movie it never seems to turn out right, especially if they try to go before the original one. In this one an archelogical group discovers an ancient church buried beneath the earth. As they uncover more & more of the church more bizarre & deadly things begin to happen to the local villagers & archeologists. A little boy becomes possessed by a demon & starts to have strange seizures & stuff happen to him. About half way through the film we find out about the past of Father Merrin & Sarah, one of the medical doctors & the part they both play in the story. There were some pretty good special effects, a few good gore parts & more. It was a decent story, but wasn't as good as I thought it would be, but then again, nothing can really beat the original!!! -

FAHRENHEIT 9/11 (R) MIRAMAX FILMS / LIONS GATE / IFC FILMS (2004) Theatre
Starring: Michael Moore, George W. Bush & more.
There was such huge controversy over the release of this film. I feel if none of the stuff in this film were true, they wouldn't give a shit about it. I am not a polical person at all, but I believe in facts & truth, so I feel the guy who does this the best is most likely who I will back. This is the reason I like Micheal Moore & his films. I like that he has facts & evidence to back up everything he shows in his films. This film shows a lot of stuff the Bush family has been doing & involved in before & after the events on 9/11. This also shows a lot of the reality of the war we are currently involved in. I think people who see the reality of the Bush's will have no problem with this film. The people who are for Bush are affraid of the reality this movie shows. If you truely believe in Bush this film shouldn't be able to change your mind. Everyone should see this regardless!!! -

HAROLD & KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE (R) NEW LINE CINEMA (2004) Theatre
Starring: John Cho, Kal Penn, Malin Akerman, Anthony Anderson, Boyd Banks, Neil Patrick Harris & more.
I knew going into this film it was just going to be an all out fun movie, which it was! The movie is about two good friends who don't want to do anything, but hang out & get high. After Kumar blows another done deal to get into medical school, they make a quest to get stoned & head to White castle. Along their way to White Castle they run into many interesting people & crazy adventures, like an escaped cheetah, which they get stoned & ride through the woods, a deformed & gross hillbilly tow truck driver, who takes them home to sleep with his wife & himself, Dougie Howser who is hopped up on drugs & is hitch hiking, then steals their car, plus lots more. This was a very funny movie in the vein of

MEATY McMEAT SHOW, THE DELAWARE BASED PRODUCTIONS (2004) DVD
I wasn't sure what to expect from this DVD before I popped the disc in, but I knew it was going to be some fucked up shit! Guess what, it was! This is some cut & paste cult animation cartoons starring Meaty McMeat. He sits in a park & does like an interview type show. His guest are anything, but your typical guest though. There's a spleen, a guy with a moose head, brocalli, zombies, a vampire, a man with a dog head, other slabs of meat & much more crazieness. The animation seems some what cheesy, but it was kind of done geniously in it's own way. The DVD also includes director's commentary, still gallery, bonus outtakes, 8 short films, hidden easter eggs & more. All the stuff included here was done by Nathan Smithe (the "E" is silent). This was some really bizarre stuff. The cover gives a warning not to watch sober! Since I don't drink I had to watch it sober. This is something all fans of cult animation should check out! -

OPEN WATER (R) LIONS GATE FILMS (2004) Theatre
Starring: Blanchard Ryan, Daniel Travis, Saul Stein, Estelle Lau & more.
There was a lot of medis hype on this film & the previews made it look really good. The film is based on true events & they used real sharks to swin around the actors. The story is about a couple who go on vacation to some islands & want to experience as much as they can. One of the things they decide to do is go deep sea diving. On the dive they some how miscount the number of people & the couple get left behind. They end up stuck in the middle of the ocean just drifting along. As time goes by they get stung by jellyfish & start to go numb. To make things worst they attrack some sharks & then start to get attacked repeatedly by them. There is a lot of suspense in the film & makes you feel like your actually floating in the ocean with them. The movie was like

RESIDENT EVIL: APOCALYPSE (R) SCREEN GEMS INC. (2004) Theatre
Starring: Milla Jovavich, Sienna Guilloy, Oded Fehr, Thomas Kretschmann, Matthew G Taylor & more.
This sequeal to the first hit film starts off right where the last one ended. In this film the virus is exposed outside the underground Umbrellas Corporation hive labratory & infects the people of Racoon City. As people try to leave the city Umbrella locks it down & leaves people to fend for themselves against the zombies. Alex is back again along with some other people, some Racoon City police who are all locked inside & are trying to escape. There is another monster they must fight besides the zombies & that's Nemesis. He is a huge monster created as a weapon by the Umbrella Corporation. The story is more interesting & delves into more about the Umbrella Corporation & leaves the film open for a thrid film. The special effects & make up effects are more detailed & more intense looking this time. If your a fan of the first film then your gonna love this second one!!!

SHAUN OF THE DEAD (R) ROGUE PICTURES (2004) Theatre
Starring: Simon Pegg, Kate Ashfield, Nick Frost, Lucy Davis, Dylan Moran & more.
As soon as I saw the first trailer for this film I was very anxious to see it. This is a British movie that parodies the
DAWN OF THE DEAD zombie movie. This is a blend of comedy & horror that mixed very well together. The gore & special effects make up were incredibly good & extremely gory. The other good thing was that the comidic parts weren't cheesy & stupid jokes just thrown in, they fit in smoothly & you weren't expecting them. The story is about a virus that's infecting people & turning them into flesh eating zombies. Shawn & his room mate decide to take on the zombies anyway they can. They must save his girlfriend & mom & then retreat to their favorite pub for refuge. The story was great, the acting was good & the make up effects were great! Fans of zombie flicks are gonna love this one. I can't wait till this is released on DVD!!! - www.SHAUNOFTHEDEADmovie.com
SHREK 2 (PG) DREAM WORKS (2004) Theatre
Starring the voices of: Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Julie Andrews, Antonio Banderas & more.
I'm a huge fan of animation & especially love computer animation. I'm sure everyone has seen the first
SHREK film, since it made millions of dollars. In this film Shrek & Fiona go home to her parents so she can introduce them to Shrek. Of course, they don't like him & tons of comedy mishaps ensue. There is an evil fairy godmother who trys to do everything to seperate them so Fiona can marry Prince Charming. I liked this one just as much as the first one. It seemed like this one had more stuff in it though. I loved when they paroded a bunch of other films like LORD OF THE RINGS, SPIDER-MAN & more. If you enjoyed the first movie then you'll enjoy this one too!!! - www.SHREK2.com

SPIDER-MAN 2 (PG-13) SONY PICTURES (2004) Theatre
Starring: Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Alfred Molina, Rosemary Harris & more.
I'm sure by now everyone knows about Spider-Man. I loved Spider-Man as a kid & still do today! I thought they did an "amazing" job with the first
SPIDER-MAN movie. Of course I expected that with Sam raimi as the director. Well, he was back on this film along with the entire original cast. This second film introduces us to Doctor Octavus or "Doc Ock". This was the best part of the film. They do such a great job & improved this character. I still think Tobey Macguire was agreat choice for Peter Parker. There was a bit more dialogue & love story in this film, but they still packed it with tons of action. Everything you got in the first film you got more of in this one. If you liked the first film you'll like the second one more. I hope they continue to make more of these films, as long as it doesn't take a turn like the BATMAN movies! I can't wait to get this on DVD!!! Spider-Man rules!!! - www.SPIDERMAN.sonypictures.com

This is the promo DVD-R of home video footage of the band
CROWN OF THORNS, which later was forced to change their name to ST. MADNESS. The band plays a mix of Thrash/Power & Traditional Metal music. Back in these days the band was still very theatrical & a great experience to see live. The DVD shows a lot of back stage footage, antics & other craziness the band gets involved in. There is a bunch of interviews & live performances featured here as well. Everyone should check this great band out & watch this DVD to see some of ST. MADNESS roots!!!
THE VILLAGE (PG-13) TOUCHSTONE PICTURES (2004) Theatre
Starring: Bryce Dallas Howard, Joaquin Phoenix, Adrien Brody, William Hurt, Sigourney Weaver & more.
Here's another film I was very anxious to see. I'm a big fan of M. Night Shyamalan's movies. There wasn't much to see in the trailers for the movie, so I wasn't really sure what the film was about. The movie is about a small village of people who live in a little community of settlers. It's like your typical small village except most of the adults have some hidden secrets they don't want the rest of the village to find out. The village is surrounded by woods & no one is supposed to enter them for fear of the unknown. Some creatures lurk in the woods & continuosly haunt the village. Once a man is stabbed & is on the verge of dying, a blind girl is sent to the next village for medical supplies. Once she enters the woods is when the story twists & unfolds. I'm not going to say what it is, but you will either love it or hate it!!! I loved it!!! -
