| A 18 - DEAR FURIOUS (12 song CD) VICTORY RECORDS This is the newest & thrid CD offering from this great Hardcore band out of California. These guys are amazing. They do toss in some elements of Metal & Punk into their Hardcore sound at times. The music is just the way Hardcore should be, loud, fast, aggressive & in your face. I loved the blend of old school & new school influences. They toss in lots of grooves & breakdowns as well. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Hardcore growl & scream. With members of A CHORUS OF DISAPPROVAL, INSTED, OUT SPOKEN & STRIFE how could you have anything but a great Hardcore band & release. | ABYSS - SIN ANGELES (9 song CD) GOI MUSIC This is my first time hearing this band, which I believe is out of Spain. These guys play some classic Power/Progressive Metal music. The music sounds quite technical & has a lot of different atmospheric parts. The drums have a solid Thrash Metal vibe to them as well as the guitars. The guitars also have a lot of Progressive sounds almost reminescent of RUSH. The vocals are done in a Power Metal & Traditional Metal style & are all sung in Spanish. These guys out of Canada have a very good sound & very aggressive style. The music is thunderous with some great grooves, breakdowns, change ups & all out blasting. I love this style of music the most cause it combines my two favorite styles of music into one. The vocals are also done in a hybrid blend of Hardcore & Metal styles. | BBQ OF BRUTALITY - 3 WAY SPLIT (11 song CD) TORTURE MUSIC RECORDS / M80 RECORDS / BOSCO RECORDS This is a three way split release from LINCOLN LOVE LOG, A.F.M. & DIONONESISTE. The first 4 songs are by L.L.L. These guys play some raw & dirty Grindcore music with some Black Metal influences tossed in the mix. Tracks 5-7 are from A.F.M. (AUTHORITY FIGHTS MAJORITY). These guys play an old school style of Death Metal music. It's really heavy, raw & brutal as hell. They remind me a little bit of old DISENCARNATE, NAPALM DEATH & CANNIBAL CORPSE. The last 4 songs belong to the band DIONONESISTE. These guys play some ultra sick & heavy as fuck Death Metal music. The music is super fast & blasphemous as hell! They do have a bit of a Black Metal feel at times. | CODE BLACK - PENETRATION (12 song CD) ARCTIC MUSIC GROUP This is the debut CD release from this New England Metalcore group. They have a strong blend of American Metal with Hardcore aggression. They do toss in a lot of Thrash Metal elements all through out. The music has that very cool Thrash Metal groove, that reminds me of EXODUS "BONDED BY BLOOD" era. The vocals are done in a straight forward Thrash Metal style like FORBIDDEN. | DARKSUN - EL LEGADO (11 song CD) GOI MUSIC This five piece out of Spain play some extremely well played Power/Progressive Metal music. The music is quite powerful & has a very strong epic feel all through out. The music is very atmospheric & technical sounding as well. There are some elements of Traditional Metal present at times too. The vocals are done in a mid ranged & melodic Metal style. The lyrics are all sung in Spanish as well. They do toss in lots of Thrash Metal elements all through out their songs. They have a good continous flowing groove in their songs as well. The vocals are done in a low end Death Metal growl mixed with some higher pitched Death Metal growls. the band features ex-members of ESTUARY OF CALAMITY, GARDEN OF SHADOWS, FORTY DAYS LONGING & MORTICITE. | GAS PANIC - STEP ON THE GAS (7 song CD) Hailing out of Japan comes this great two piece Metal act! I've heard previous stuff from this band & they have changed a bit since then. They have gotten much more intricate & technical sounding. The music has a some what trippy almost Stoner Metal groove to it. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Metal style that crosses over into Death, Industrial & Doom at times. I like the faster & heavier Death/Industrial parts the best. Minako Shimazaki & Akiro Naito (COLOURFAST) have really improved a lot on this new release, which really out shines the last one!!!
