| DARK DISCIPLE - REBORN BELOW SPLIT DEMO 2002 (7 song CD) DARK DICIPLE is a great Black/Doom Metal band from the dark bowels of Balitimore Maryland. This release is a split release with 4 songs from the bands first demo When The Wicked Inhearit The earth & 3 songs off their newest demo Beneath The Inverted Cross. These guys have a very original sound & play a very well structured style of Black Metal. I liked the fact that they mixed things up with in the Black Metal realm & don't stick to just one form. I also liked all the really heavy Doom influences & elements tossed in, this is what i think helps give them an original sound. They reminded me of older INSATANITY & INTERNAL BLEEDING with touches of DYING FETUS, but only if they all played Black Metal music. They are also one of the best bands as well. Once again the guys deliver some pure Satanic Death Metal in it's finest form. The music is fast & furious with tons of blasting sickness. There are slow & fast paced guitar riffs grinding through out the whole disc. Hauntingly dark vocals are vomited out all over the chaotic Death Metal music. There is only one thing you need as proof to figure out why this band is one of Sweden's & the Death Metal scenes best bands & that's this album! Get it! - P.O. The band has changed their sound slightly on this disc. They have added some Thrash Metal elements & old school Death Metal influences into their music. They have also added some more grooves into the Death Metal sound as well. I like the direction they have gone in, because this has help make them sound a lot tighter, more experienced & all together a better band. The vocals are still done in an aggressive raw harsh Death growl that goes from high to low. I can't wait to actually get the original version of this disc! - www.metalage.sk DETERIOROT - IN ANCIENT BELIEFS (14 song CD) WORLD WAR III MUSIC DETERIOROT is an extremely good Death Metal act that has been shredding the scene up since the early 90's. They play a good style of old school Death Metal that is straight forward & brutal all the way. They do have some sudden stops & slower parts, but you get slammed right back into some crazy blasting mayhem! The vocals have a low to mid ranged Death growl style to them. These guys remind me a lot of such greats as BOLT THROWER & ENTOMBED! If your a fan of either of these bands your gonna love DETERIOROT. This album also contains the bands '92 demo album! DIABOLICAL - SYNERGY (8 song CD) WORLD WAR III MUSIC / MERCENARY MUSIC These guys play some great sounding Death/Thrash Metal in the vein of a lot of the early 90's Metal acts. They have a very technical style reminescent of AT THE GATES mixed with lots of hard hitting Death Metal sounds like old DEATH or even some NAPALM DEATH. the vocals are raw harsh Death growls that reminded me of CARCASS only a little lower sounding. DIABOLICAL is yet another fine example why Sweden produces the best Metal acts in the entire world. This is an amazing album!!! DISINTER - DEMONIC PORTRAITURE (11 song CD) MORBID RECORDS This is a band I've watched improve a lot over the years & have developed into a great Death metal band. These guys play a very good mixture style of old school & new school Death metal. There are tons of blast beats, grind riffs, symphonic almost classical riffs, tons of aggression all soaked in pure brutality! They have a strong dark emphasis in their music that sounds some what horrific at times! there are some weird space like atmospherci parts that peek out from the madness at times too! This is definately the bands best release so far & is a great advancement from their demo days! - P.O. BOX 34919 / CHICAGO, IL. 60634 / DISINTER666@yahoo.com / www.DISINTER.com ENTER MY SILENCE - REMOTE CONTROLLED SCYTHE (9 song CD) MERCENARY MUSIK / WWIII MUSIC This is the debut release from this young new band out of Finland. These guys mix things up with in the Death Metal genre to create their sound. They have a solid technical sound that pummels you away with pure brutality. There is classical sounding guitar work, fat crunchy rhythm bass & throbbing & multi-changing drum beats. The vocals are done in a harsh Death growl style that is multi layered & accompanies the music perfectly. They reminded me of such greats as IN FLAMES, OPETH, AT THE GATES & DARK TRANQUILITY. This is a must for fans of these above bands. this is a band I'm sure we'll all be hearing a lot from in the future!!! ENTOMBED - MORNING STAR (12 song CD) KOCH RECORDS What can I say? It's the great ENTOMBED! These guys are one of the most influencial Death Metal acts ever & guess what? They are also from Sweden! What a surprise! ENTOMBED play an old school style of Death Metal with lots of depth! They like to mix things up by adding touches of Thrash & Doom & even pure Rock & Roll into their blend of Death Metal. I also like how they add lots of melodic & groove parts into their sound as well. ENTOMBED are such an original sounding band & have always improved upon their sound with each new release! This disc takes me back to my favorite album of their's which is Wolverine Blues. These guys were one of the first Death metal bnads I ever got into & they are still one of my favorites!!! - www.ENTOMBED.net / goatbridge@telia.com FLESHLESS - NICE TO EAT YOU (11 song CD) OBSCENE PRODUCTIONS Here's a surprise! This Czech republic band play some great sounding Death/Grind music that will make you want to tear your own flesh off! Thier music is hyper technical aggressive Death/Grind! These guys are amazing! They have tons of tempo changes, impossible blasting double bass drums, crunchy guitars & ultra low sick vomiting Death/Grind vocals! I liked the grooves & stop & go beats & rhythms in their sound a lot. These guys are one of the bigger & better Death/Grind bands in Czech Republic & well deserve to be! - KOSMONAUTU 153 / CZ-40501 DECIN 27 / CZECH REPUBLIC / prokos@space.cz / http://go.to/FLESHLESS FLYING BRAINS - SELF TITLED (9 song cassette) I was kind of surprised by this band! I didn't expect them to sound like what they do. FLYING BRAINS play a nice solid style of Grindcore/Death Metal. They are from Czech Republic so that's not that big of a surprise! The music is blended very well with lots of elements from Death Metal & Grindcore. I did like the many changes in their sound from fast to slow, grooving to blasting, etc... There were some crunchy guitars as well. The vocals are done in a few styles. there is a mid ranged melodic Death growl, a heavy deep Death growl & some very fast hyper Grindcore screams! This band fits in well with all the other great Death/Grind bands I've heard come out of Czech Republic! - FIMBERK 599 / SKUTEC / 539 73 / CZECH REPUBLIC / FLYINGBRAINS@email.cz GHOUL - WE CAME FOR THE DEAD!!! (8 song CD) RAZORBACK RECORDS Damn! RAZORBACK RECORDS has done it once again! They have signed on another great Gore/Grind/Death metal band! These guys play haunting Death Grind music that reminds me a little of DISMEMBERED FETUS! Their music is definately Grind, but they have a very original Grind sound. They like to throw in lots of grooves, breakdowns & stop & go beats amongst all of the gore soaked mayhem! There are two vocal styles done, one is a higher old school sounding Death Metal growl & the other is a low gutterul Death growl. These guys are great! They have a sound similar to the Swedish Death scene merged with the Czech Republic Grind scene!
