| PULSE 8 - DROP THE 8 BOMB (5 song CD) This is the second CD release I've recieved from these guys. They have changed their sound a bit & also improved a lot too. I really like the new stuff a lot better than their previous release. They have a more Industrialized Metal sound now. There is a really cool groove all through out their sound. I also like the crunchy Industrial coated guitar sounds a lot. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Hard Metal style. These guys reminded me of BILE, MINISTRY, PRONG, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE & BUTTHOLE SURFERS all combined! - 1305 ALBERTA ST. / COVINGTON, KY. 41016 / dcPULSE8@fuse.net / system@fuse.net / www.uwillPULSE8.com PYREXIA - CRUELITY BEYOND SUBMISSION (11 song CD) CRASH MUSIC / REX-RECORDS I'm glad to see these guys are still kicking it in the underground scene. PYREXIA play super tight & very heavy Death Metal music. I love this style of Death Metal cause it's coated with tons of New York flavor & attitude. These guys toss in lots of Hardcore type beats & grooves as well as some Thrash Metal sounding guitars. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Death growl style with the occassional lower end garggle mixed in. Fans of bands like BIOHAZARD, CANDIRIA, INDECISION & HATEBREED will love these guys!!! - P.O. BOX 267 / SHIRLEY, NY. 11967 / www.PYREXIA.us RUMPELSTILTSKIN GRINDER / JUMBO'S KILLCRANE - SPLIT (2 song 7" Record) RED CANDLE RECORDS RUMPLESTILTSKIN GRINDER play a very raw & aggressive style of Thrash Metal with tons of Death Metal tossed in the mix. The vocals sway more towards the Death Metal growl style. The band features x-members of DIVINE RAPTURE & EVIL DIVINE. The second song goes to JUMBO'S KILLCRANE. These guys play a heavy sludgy Doom Metal style of music. They have some Death metal influences tossed into their sound as well. The vocals here are a harsh howling Death type scream/growl. This is a good split by two unique bands!!! - www.RUMPELSTILTSKINGRINDER.com / www.JUMBOSKILLCRANE.com SEASICK - BESTIE MENSCH (13 song CD) PWP (Available through BEOWOLF PRODUCTIONS) SEASICK is another great band out of Germany. These guys play some old school Death Metal with slight touches of Grindcore tossed in the mix. The music for the most part is Death Metal, but the drums have a little bit of a Grindcore sound to them. The vocals are done in an old school Death growl way. There is a decent groove through most of the songs as well. A lot of different changes through out this great release. - MINGO LEIDINGER / HOCHWALD STRASSE 27 / 66709 RAPPWEILER / GERMANY / mingo@gmx.at SINOCENCE - ACCEPTABLE LEVEL OF VIOLENCE (5 song CD) This is the third CD release to date of this Metal band out of Northern Ireland. These guys blend lots of different elements together to create their sound. They have lots of depth, melody, grooves, hard hitting beats & Thrash guitars. I liked the Hardcore influences they tossed into their music a lot. The vocal styles used are a mid ranged Metal voice mixed with a more melodic Thrash Power Metal style. These guys remind me of a lot of the Metal bands from the early to mid 90's era. This is a good band to keep a watch out for!!! - 130 LAKE ST. / LURGAN / CO. ARMAGH / BT69 9D4 / NORTHERN IRELAND / SINOCENCE13@hotmail.com / www.SINOCENCE.co.uk STAND ASIDE - DANCE OF THE DRAGON (3 song CD) This is a three song promo sampler for the bands forth coming CD which will contain seven tracks total. These guys play a really strong & powerful Hardcore/Death metal hybrid style of music. They do toss in lots of Grindcore type elements as well. I loved the really crunchy guitar sound as well as the hard hitting Hardcore type grooves. These guys have everything that is great about these two styles of music. The vocals also cross over between these two styles of music with low death growls & mid ranged harsh Hardcore screams. These guys are going to be big in the underground scene!!! - three-eyes31@hotmail.com / spanky@standaside.co.uk / chains777@hotmail.com / www.STANDASIDE.co.uk TODD GOLDFINGER - HIDDEN WORLD (10 song CD) Todd Goldfinger is a very talented musician who plays Rock influenced music that has a lot of other elements tossed in. I can hear a lot of World Muaic, Classic Rock, Classical, Jazz, Acid Rock & Stoner Metal as well. He has written & performed all the music on this disc. Some of the music has a dream like feel & is very atmospheric sounding. This is just an all instrumental album, but a good for a change of sound & style!!! - www.TGOLDIE.com UNJUST - GLOW (14 song CD) KOOL ARROW RECORDS Hailing from San Francisco california's bay area comes UNJUST with their third release to date. I have one of this bands earlier releases & they have changed a bit. They are still harder edged Rock/Metal with some Nu-Metal flavors tossed in. Now they have tossed in some Emo & slight Death Metal type influences as well. The vocals are done in a Death Metal & Emo crossover style. One of the vocals is really melodic & deep sounding (which is the dominate one) & the other is a harsh almost Death metal type scream. This new release is very good, but I think I prefer their older stuff more. They kind of remind me of newer material from FAITH NO MORE! - P.O. BOX 5118 / RICHMOND, CA. 94805 / www.UNJUST.com WALLS OF JERICHO - ALL HAIL THE DEAD (13 song CD) TRUSTKILL RECORDS Wow! This band is incredible. I loved every second of it. I've heard a lot about this band, but this is my first experience hearing them. They play a highly intense & extremely powerful style of Hardcore music. They are just amazing, through out. They have fast paced & aggressive rythms, grooves, breakdowns, & change ups. I loved it. There are some heavy as hell beats that just stick in your head & bash themselves against your skull. The vocals are done in a harsh powerful Hardcore scream. Candice Belts out the vocals better than most in the scene today. This is a highly. highly recommended album & one of the best Hardcore releases I've heard in a long time!!! - WALLSOFJERICHO@trustkill.com / www.allhailthedead.com WEEPING BIRTH - A PAINTING OF RAVEN AND RAPE (9 song CD) (Available through BEOWOLF PRODUCTIONS) This is a one man band done by Vladimir who hails from Switzerland & plays an intense style of Death Metal music. The music is so fast, I kept feeling like I was trying to catch up all the time. The music has a good blend of old school & new school Death Metal elements. I loved the different changes they tossed into the music as well. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Death growl style that was some what haunting at times. They have a solid, tight, technical sound that is present through out the songs too. This is another album highly recommended!!! - CHEMIN DE MADAME DE WARENS / 1816 CHAILLY / MONTREUX / SWITZERLAND / vladimirimpaler@hotmail.com / www.WEEPINGBIRTH.com WITCHMASTER - SELF TITLED (10 song CD) AGONIA RECORDS WITCHMASTER play some really raw Thrash/Black Metal type music. These guys are very aggressive & abrasive sounding. I liked the constant pounding & beating their music did to my brain. They reminded me a lot of the bands WAR & BOLT THROWER. I love both of these bands, so I of course really enjoyed this band. The vocals are done in a mid ranged & throaty Death scream style that sometimes got a little lower & deeper. If your a fan of the above two mentioned bands then you'll love WITCHMASTER!!! YELLOWHOUSE - ILLUSIONS OF EVERYDAY (13 song CD) ROCK WERK RECORDS / MMN RCORDS / NOISEGATE PRODUCTIONS Hailing from Germany comes this Rock/Metal band named YELLOWHOUSE. These guys have a really good rocking sound that's very melodic sounding. They have a strong seventies Metal vibe covering their sound a lot. The music is very tight & crystal clear sounding as well. the vocals are done in a melodic Rock type style that really helps pull you into their music!!! - www.YELLOWHOUSE.de YELLOWHOUSE - WHAT'S SHINNING THROUGH (11 song CD) MMN RECORDS This is the bands previous CD release that came out before the above release. On this disc they have a more dominate seventies type style to their music. The music is still guitar driven & has a good Rocking sound through out. There is some more spacey or trippy type sounds present on this disc. The vocals are still done in the same style as the above release.
