| BLASTMASTERS - TWISTED METAL (promo) (10 track CD) Self Released This is the second offering from Florida's BLASTMASTERS. The band features ex-members of DIABOLIC & UNHOLY GHOST. These guys play some very good & very intense Death Grind music. The music is hyper fast & has lost of blasts all through out. There are some slight Thrash Metal influences that poke through at times. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Death growl/scream crossover style. These guys are really good & are a good representation of the Florida Death Metal scene. Fans of early 90's Florida Death bands will really dig these guys a lot!!! P.O. | BLEEDING TROUGH - THE TRUTH (12 track CD) TRUSTKILL RECORDS I've seen & heard a lot about these guys, but this is my first time hearing them! This band is great! They play a good mixture of Metal & Hardcore music. They have a very aggressive style of Hardcore, which almost sounds like Death Metal, blended with more melodic Metal music. There are really cool grooves & breakdowns all through out the music. I liked the stop & start parts a lot as well. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Hardcore/Death Metal crossover style combined with some more melodic Metal vocals. | CHAINSAW DISSECTION - REMNANTS OF THE SLAUGHTERED (9 track CD) Self Released This is a one man project done by "The Butcher" Bob Macabre. He plays all guitars, bass,drum programming & growling as well as all the writing. His purpose was to create chaotic Grindcore Death Metal music. He has succeded very well in doing so. The music is very hyper fast & chaotic sounding. There is some distortion in music sound as well. He tosses in some different drum patterns & guitar noises through out.I've heard some of his earlier work & this is by far his best effort to date. The vocals are done in a mid low ranged Death growl style. They take elements of extreme Metal, Gothic, Prog, Electro-Industrial & Experimental music & melt them all together to crete their style. The music has a lot of different vibes to it too. There are intense, emotional, cold & atmospheric parts all rolled into one. I liked the way the music moves so smoothly through these different styles of music. There are some strange almost space like sounds in there as well. The vocals are done in male Black Metal, Goth & Death metal styles along with some angelic like female vocals added in. These guys have been around for almost 10 years & are well know in the Black Metal community. They play very aggressive & cold dark Black Metal music. There is a really cool groove that runs through some of their songs, which is weird for a Black metal band. They do have all out blast, shreds & blasphemous mayhem also within their music. The music is a very atmopsheric style of Black Metal music. They do incorporate some Death & Thrash Metal elements too. They often include tempo changes, strong riffs & hooks, as well as melody & breakdowns all within their style. There sound is right in the middle between old school & new school Black Metal styles. There is a lot of adrenaline flowing through this band. Their music is very aggressive, intense & hard hitting. I love the way they toss in some really cool grooves along with some cool Metal guitar sounds. There are some really cool breakdowns, change ups & hooks in their songs too. | MEGAHERZ - 5 (13 track CD) ECLIPSE RECORDS MEGAHERZ emerges from Germany & play a great mixture of Metal & Industrial music together. This si the bands fifthe release & a great one at that. The music is very intense & powerful. There are a lot of crunchy heavy parts along with some really good grooves. The music switches up a lot, which keeps pushing you out & hooking you back in. There are some slower more melodic parts, but they don't stick around too long. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Industrial/Metal crossover style with some lower more melodic Industrial almost Goth like vocals. The vocals are all sung in German as well! They play some really cold & dark Black Metal music I would expect from one of the Noridc countries. The music is very fast paced old school Black Metal sounding, along with some more atmospheric Goth like Black Metal music. There is a strong blend of the two styles all through out the music. There is a very cold vibe to their music too. It kind of creeps up on you & then shredds you appart. The vocals are done in two styles. There are low end Death growls, mixed with mid ranged Black Metal growls/screams, accompanied by some haunting witch like female vocals. This guys are definately going to make a big name for themselvse in the Black Metal scene with this their debut CD release for VENDLUS RECORDS!!! The music goes from fast paced parts into some melodic Death parts here & there. I liked the way they changed things up a bit & kept it fresh. The vocals are done in a mid ranged harsh Death Metal growl style with some melodic ones to accompany at times. The music is bassed firmly in Grindcore, but has many elements of Death Metal & Noise present as well. The music is quite intense & crazy sounding with lots of change ups, twists & hooks all through out. I liked how they would take you donw one path of insnaity & then smack you in the face with something else to steer you a whole new direction. There is a lot of static type noises in their sound too. The vocals are done in a low end gutteral Death vomit growl style. These guys reminded me of bands like DEADFOOD, NOISE CORE FREAK & CHAINSAW DISSECTION a lot!!! |

They do blend in some Death Metal influences into their Grindcore though. The music is very chaotic & aggressively intense sounding Grind all through out. These guys must be robots or something to be able to play this fast. They have a strong old school Grind style which what i liked about them a lot. The drums are super fast & the guitars are crunchy as hell. Every once in awhile they do slow things up a bit, but it's not for long.The vocals are done in a low end gutteral Death growl spewed forth & in your face.
