| BLASTMASTERS - TWISTED METAL (promo) (10 track CD) Self Released DIABOLIC & UNHOLY GHOST. These guys play some very good & very intense Death Thrash Metal influences that poke through at times. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Death Grind music. The music is growl/scream crossover style. These guys are really good & are a good representation of the Florida Death Metal scene. These guys play the great Power/ Heavy Metal styled music I grew up on. It was music like this that made me really love some really cool riffs, drum patterns & more. There is a lot of adrenaline flowing through this band. grooves along with some cool Metal guitar sounds. There are some really cool breakdowns, change ups & hooks in their songs too. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Hardcore almost Death Metal type growl with some screams to break it up a bit. There are some really catchy hooks & grooves through out as well. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Thrash & Speed Metal style with some melodic Heavy Metal tossed in the mix. | MEGAHERZ - 5 (13 track CD) ECLIPSE RECORDS together. This is the bands fifth release & a great one at that. The music is very intense & powerful. There are a lot of crunchy heavy parts along with some really good grooves. The music switches up a lot, which keeps pushing you out & hooking you back in. There are some slower more melodic parts, but they don't stick around too long. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Industrial/Metal crossover style with some lower more melodic Industrial almost Goth like vocals. The vocals are all sung in German as well! | HORDE OF WORMS - UNEARTHLY DESOLATION (4 track CD) BLOODBUCKET PRODUCTIONS been destroying the underground for years with their intense Death Grind music. Their music has changed a little bit since I last heard them. They lean more towards technical Death Metal music than to the Grindcore side. There is plenty of Grind in their sound still, which I love. There is a bunch of cool change ups & grooves within their style as well. The vocals are done in a mid ranged harsh Death/grind growl & a lower Death growl as well. These guys are one of the best to emerge out of Canada & should be a lot bigger than they are. | MIRRORTHRONE - CARRIERS OF DUST (4 track CD) Self Released MIRRORTHRONE is a one man wrecking machine by the name of Vladimir. He does all vocals, lead & rhythm guitars, bass, drums & synthesizer programming. This is one amazing & highly talented guy! The music is done in an old school Black metal meets new school Black Metal style. There are many elements of Death Metal present all through out though. The music is very heavy & intense brutality mixed with some very well orchestrated music as well. There are a lot of change ups & hooks in the music too. I low how it goes from hyper fast to a slower more atmospheric & melodic part. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Death/Black Metal growling style along with some more melodic & almost Goth like vocals. This guy is one of the best musicians I have ever heard!!! They do toss in some new school Death Metal elements too. They have a lot of brutality mixed with technicality. There are some almost Thrash Metal influences present in the guitar sounds as well. The music goes from fast paced parts into some melodic Death parts here & there. I liked the way they changed things up a bit & kept it fresh. The vocals are done in a mid ranged harsh Death Metal growl style with some melodic ones to accompany at times. | THROB OF OFFAL - MOSS FUNERAL (12 track CD) BLOODBUCKET PRODUCTIONS THROB OF OFFAL base their sound in Grindcore, but has many elements of Death Metal & Noise present as well. The music is quite intense & crazy sounding with lots of change ups, twists & hooks all through out. I liked how they would take you down one path of insanity & then smack you in the face with something else to steer you a whole new direction. There is a lot of static type noises in their sound too. The vocals are done in a low end guttural Death vomit growl style. These guys reminded me of bands like DEADFOOD, NOISE CORE FREAK & CHAINSAW DISSECTION a lot!!! |
| TIME OF DEATH - THE LAST BREATH OF THE DYING (9 track CD) BLOODBUCKET PRODUCTIONS TIME OF DEATH play some very hyper fast Grindcore music. They do blend in some Death Metal influences into their Grindcore though. The music is very chaotic & aggressively intense sounding Grind all through out. These guys must be robots or something to be able to play this fast. They have a strong old school Grind style which what i liked about them a lot. The drums are super fast & the guitars are crunchy as hell. Every once in awhile they do slow things up a bit, but it's not for long.
