APOSTATE - TRAPPED IN A SLEEP
(7 track CD) BLACK ART
"TRAPPED IN A SLEEP" is the first release from APOSTATE since the bands resurrection in
2009. The band hails from the Ukraine and play a mixture of Death & Doom Metal. The music is
heavy melodic Doom with some touches or influences of Black Metal present through out. There
are a lot of more brutal straight on Death Metal parts as well. The vocals range from mid ranged
Death growls to slow melodic Doom haunts into more atmospheric Black Metal growls. These guys
have a very solid, tight and professional sound. You can tell there is a lot of talent and experience
pouring out of these musicians. The blend of these styles comes off very smoothly and would
surely grab the interest of fans from any of these genres. Another must for all Metal heads.

DAVID NEIL CLINE BAND - FLYING IN A CLOUD OF CONTROVERSY

David Neil Cline has been performing music in some form for over 3 decades now. "FLYING IN A
CLOUD OF CONTROVERSY" is his 5th album release. David plays a mixture of Hard Rock,
Modern Rock & Classic Rock with some strong influences of Blues & Jazz tossed in. On this new
release he has mostly everything including vocals, rhythm, lead & acoustic guitars, bass, Hammond
organ & assorted percussion parts. He also produced and engineered the album as well. His music is
very well written & structured. I am always amazed when I hear someone with this much talent.

This is, I believe, the debut CD release from this spastic band out of Greece. IN-FEST play a blend
of Death Metal, Hardcore, Thrash Metal and Grindcore. This is not a common mix, but these guys
pull it off very well. The music is more of a raw Hardcore & Grindcore style, but the Death &
Thrash elements are present through out. The Thrash elements are dominant in a lot of the guitar
sounds, while the Death Metal comes into play mostly in the vocals. They are a mid to low ranged
raw Death Metal growl style. The band takes me back to a lot of the bands of this style from the
late 80's and early 90's. Check out this spastic crazy band!

The mighty LEMURIA is back after their much too long silence since 2006. "CHANSON DE LA
CRUISADE" is the bands first release since then with a new modified line up. They have changed
their sound slightly with this new offering. They were a tradition Folk Metal band, but now have
added in more of a symphonic Black Metal sound. The Folk Metal elements are still there, but they
are more in the background. The music is so full & epic sounding, it feels like a huge orchestra
playing Black Metal. The vocals are a harsh mid ranged Black Metal scream with lower Black
Metal growls. This made me feel like I was on a bloody battlefield in the middle ages and
destroying my enemies as brutally as I could. I love this band! My favorite release in a long time.

all the guitar, keyboard, bass, vocals, programming and all other instruments. Brad has also written
all the lyrics. "ORCHESTRAL EVOLUTION" is his third offering and is a concept album about
Darwinian Evolution. The music is done in an old Black Metal style with very orchestrated and
classical sounding elements. The music has a very cold, but ethereal vibe to it as well. Brad's vocals
are done in a rough, kind of groggy Black Metal growl style. I have Brad's other two releases and
this is by far his best work yet. You can hear how much he has progressed from his last release to
this current one. May not be for all Black Metal fans, but all Black Metal fans should check it out.

"A WORLD WITH NO SKIES" is the debut solo release from SLAINE. SLAINE is better known
from his part of the Hip-Hop groups LA COKA NOSTRA & SPECIAL TEAMZ. He has a gritty
old school Hip-Hop vibe which comes from his past of living on the streets of Boston & New
York. The music is not really Gangsta Rap, but definitely has that feel to it. I would say he has a
sound that is a combination of HOUSE OF PAIN, CYPRESS HILL & ONYX with some
EMINEN mixed within. I'm not a huge Rap fan, but I was digging this cause I like all the band
mentioned above except EMINEN. Guest appearances from EVERLAST, ILL BILL, B REAL
and more. If you dig Rap in this vein, then you'll love this solo release from SLAINE!

combination of MESHUGGAH, DYING FETUS, PANTERA, MACHINE HEAD,
GODSMACK & HELL YEAH. This is a weird combination, but all the bands are really cool.
