| BLACK MASS OF ABSU - DEMO 1995 (17 track CD) Self Released BLACK MASS OF ABSU hail from New York & plays some very cold, dirty & raw sounding Black Metal music. The music is very harsh & done in an old school Black Metal style. There are some slightly atmospheric parts mixed with in all the chaos. The vocals are done in a muffled low end Black Metal growl/scream crossover style. If you had this little underground gem on cassette, now is your chance to pick this thing up on CD! |
| CIRCUS OF DEAD SQUIRRELS - THE POP CULTURE MASSACRE... (11 track CD) FOR A NATION This new disc is way better than their last one & that one was amazing. These guys play some very heavy Industrialized Death Metal music with some elements of Electronica all through out. They have a very intense sound that is all over the place, but is meant to be! There are some cool grooved beats & stop & start parts all through out. The vocals are done in a mixture of mid ranged melodic Industrial & harsh Death Metal growls & screams! | CRIME IN STEREO - CRIME IN STEREO IS DEAD ( 11 track CD) BRIDGE NINE RECORDS CRIME IN STEREO is a different sounding Hardcore band. These guys play Hardcore that is more reminiscent of bands Like HELMET & QUICKSAND & less like bands of today. These guys have a more modern sound, but with elements of bands from above mentioned. The music has it's fast paced all out aggressive parts, but they also have the more melodic & mellower parts too. These guys mix things up a bit & keep a good balance of both. The vocals also follow the same style as the music. There are louder & more harsher Hardcore vocals mixed with lower more melodic & cleaner vocals. This band almost folded, but their back, hence the album name! |
| DANGER FREE ANIMALS - NUESTRAS HECES (? track CD) Self Released I have a few of this bands past releases & I would definitely say these guys have gotten better with each new release. I think they have even changed their sound a little bit. They have gotten much tighter & cleaner as a unit, with better structured songs as well. The music is done on a grooved out Death Metal style. There are some heavier & less groovy parts & more Thrashing Death parts too. They take elements from Thrash, Speed, Death & even a little Hardcore to create their sound. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Hardcore/Death crossover style & sung in their native tongue. They remind me of a less aggressive & brutal version of BRUJERIA! |
| DARK FUNERAL - ATTERA ORBIS TERRARUM PART 1 (DVD) REGAIN RECORDS Sweden's DARK FUNERAL is back & this time with a live DVD. These guys play extremely dark & satanic Black metal music. Of course there is a lot of Death Metal mixed within their sound as well. The vocals are done in a harsh throaty Black/Death Metal crossover style. These guys are one of the best bands at what they do & any Metal head who hasn't heard them yet France. There is over 40 minutes of bonus material with amateur footage & video clips. | DARK THE SUNS - IN DARKNESS COMES BEAUTY (10 track CD) FIREBOX RECORDS DARK THE SUNS plays some really well constructed melodic Metal music. These guys play in a mostly Death Metal range, but a lot of the melodic parts sound like a combination of Goth & Black Metal influences. The music has a really beautiful dark & atmospheric vibe to it, this is mostly do to the piano melodies used. The vocals are done in a mid ranged thick Death Metal growl style. They comprise up seven different journey's with each of their songs. The music has a very strong sound scape feel to it, but each one sounding completely different than the previous. | REMOVE THE VEIL - ANOTHER WAY HOME (11 track CD) FACEDOWN RECORDS I really dig their sound a lot, it's a mix of Hardcore, Metal & Southern Rock music. This is a different blend that not many bands play & the ones who do, don't play as well as these guys! I up a bit into a Southern Rock sound. The vocals follow the same way with harsh Hardcore Metal vocals that almost remind me of CARCASS, with less Death Metal & then hit you with some clean Southern Rock vocals. These guys are highly recommended & a must to check out!!! |

| SHIT OUTTA LUCK - FAMILY TRADITION (7 track CD) ORGANIZED CRIME RECORDS This is the debut release from this Milwaukee, Wisconsin based band. These guys add in lots of influences into their brand of gritty dirty Metal music. They add in lots of Southern Rock, Stoner Metal, 70's Metal, Sludge, Doom, Death & Hardcore. These guys mix it up & pour it out! There are lots of crunchy & scratchy guitar sounds like CLUTCH, MOTORHEAD, FIREBALL MINISTRY & KYUSS. There are some lower end dirty thumbing bass & drum sounds to accompany all this as well. The vocals remind me of CLUTCH mixed with MOTORHEAD & a little bit of THE MELVINS at times. These guys are great! I dig all the bands I mentioned, so I of course was really enjoying these guys!!! |

This time they have recruited a new singer & a new drummer. But don't worry, these guys haven't change much, except for the fact that they have gotten better. The music is still very high adrenaline induced all through out Metal with lots of melodic hooks inter mixed. They have taking a more Metal approach this time with fast catchy guitar riffs, pulse pounding drum beats, thick thumping bass vocals, with some clean melodic ones & then some anger filled Death growls. | TOWPATH - DEMO 1995 (11 track CD) Self Released This is a re-release of this band out of New York's 1995 demo originally only released on cassette. The first 8 tracks are from the demo & the last 3 are from an unreleased demo in 1996. These guys play cold harsh & raw sounding Death Metal music. There are some touches of Hardcore, Grindcore & Punk mixed within their sound as well. These guys also add in horns, scratching & synths to really make them stand out from a lot of bands out there. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Hardcore/Death Metal crossover scream & growl style. This is some very original sounding stuff that you should give a listen to, especially if you never had the demo version before! |
| V:28 - VIOLUTION (9 track CD) VENDLUS RECORDS V:28 is a Norwegian Industrial Death Metal band that started back in 2002. These guys have released two other records in a trilogy, with this being the final chapter. This trilogy deals with cold feel to their music. The music is based in Death Metal that is blended with Industrial, but has lots of injections of Black Metal all through out. The songs are a bit haunting in feel as well. The vocals are done in a cold harsh throaty Black metal type growl style. This is a great band that I see & hear a lot about, but I don't see or hear enough about this band.
