I really like their blend of aggressiveness & melody. AQUILON hail from France & play some very good original dark Death Metal music. I love how they suck you in with some melodic & engufing grooves & then hit you with a ball of intense aggression. The keyboards add lots of depth & atmosphere to their sound. They have some touches of Doom Metal in their sound as well. The vocals are done in some melodic Doom Metal styles & harsh Death growls along with some female vocals too. This is some very strange & bizarre stuff here. The music has a very experimental & electronica type sound to it. It's a bunch of different noises & atmospheric sounding music. | ASCENDENCY - RISE OF A DEAD EMPIRE (9 song CD) This is another new band I've come to really enjoy. These guys play balls out aggressive & heavy as hell Death Metal music. The music is very varied & changes all the time while still sticking to a Death Metal style. Sometimes you can hear some Thrash Metal sounds coming out especially in the guitars. I loved all the fast paced brutal grooves & blasting they have in their sound. The music is a combination of old school brutality & new school technicality. The vocals are done in a low end guttural Death growl. This is a must for all pure Deathheads! | ATROPHIA RED SUN - TWISTED LOGIC (11 song CD) ADIPOCERE RECORDS I had a feeling I was really going to like this band a lot for some reason. Guess what? I loved them!!! They play a very technical style of Death Metal music with lots of Thrash Metal tossed in. They have a great blend of brutality & atmospheric parts. I love this balance. At times the music kind of plays a mind trip on your ears. These guys are very tight & talented. Also at times you can hear dark electronic sounds pouring out of their music. These guys are definately one of the best bands to emerge out of Poland in a long time. This is highly recommended & a must for any fan of incredibly good Death Metal music! They do a very cool cover of the EXPLOITED's "Porno Slut" song. The last 4 songs are from the band TOD. These guys also play some extremely good Black Metal music. The music here is a bit more raw & colder sounding, almost like War Metal. They have lots of fast paced beats, that just pound the shit out of you. On this disc they continue on with some strange Grindcore that that they have always created. They are in no way your typical Grindcore band. These guys toss in elements from just about every style like Death, Thrash, Industrial, Doom & even Reggae, Jazz, Trance & more. They add in some bizarre sound effects as well. This Chicago, Il. based band plays some great Hardcore influenced Death Metal music. I love this style a lot & these guys play it better than most. To add to this already greatness, the guys also toss in lots of Swedish Metal influences into the mix. The music is very tight, aggressively intense & straight up fuckin' good. It seems that every band VICTORY puts out lately is highly talented & extremely good. They add in some flavor with breakdowns, grooves, atmosphere & much, much more. There are some very cool grooves as well as some great guitar shredding. Anyone who is familiar with DIO knows what a greatness he possesses in the Metal scene. The music has a lot of elements of Metal all through out it. There are some really good grooving parts that actually reminded me of Hardcore. They do toss in some melodic Emo/Punk parts too. This band pulls influences from a lot of different areas. The vocals are done in an aggressive Hardcore style with some melodic Metal vocals blended in. They reminded me of FAITH NO MORE a lot. Some times the music is hyper fast & others it's layed back & mellow. There are no vocals on this disc, just instrumentals. On this, their third album, they show lots of improvement over their previous releases. There is a more mature, experienced sound on this album. The girls still play a heavy grooving style of Metal, but this time around they have lots more Death Metal influences. There are a ton of grooves, melodicness, breakdowns & hooks along the way. I love the blend of melodic harmonic vocals with the hard heavy Death growls. The releases are originally released on cassette tapes, but sent all together on one CDR. The bands include PAGAN FIRE, INCARION, EFFLUVIUM, MORLOCH & NEGATRON. There are a fe intros & outros included on the disc. The bands play all within the Death Metal & Black Metal range. The mix was a little rough, but this might be because most songs are done live. I have some of their older releases & then all of a sudden they disappeared. They're back again & with their best release so far. I love this Itailian Death Metal band. These guys have an old school Death Metal meets Thrash Metal sound. The whole band has improved big time. They still have that Punk edge & attitude, but they have add much more to their sound. They toss in elements of Classic Rock, 70's Punk Rock, Metal & even some New Wave & Emo type influences. The music here is very atmospheric & cold feeling. The music also has a very dark vibe to it all through out. There are no vocals at all on this disc & is all instrumental. It's as if you took all the atmospheric parts from a Black metal band. This is the bands second disc on CRASH MUSIC & a great one at that. They have gotten a lot heavier, more technical & more diverse. They play a mix of Thrash, Death Metal & Progressive Metal. The music has gotten a bit faster as well. I loved all the new change ups, hooks & grooves they have added. The vocals are a mix of Harsh Thrash, almost Death Metal screams & some melodic Metal vocals. At times you can feel a bit of a hardcore vibe going on intheir music as well. These guys have held onto that great bay area Thrash sound & have moulded it into their own sound. These guys remind me of the great Thrash acts of the late 80's & early 90's. This is the bands third CD release & their most impressive so far. There is much more technical, mature & in depth songs, that will surely pull any Thrash Metal fan in. These guys play extremely well technical & brutal Death Metal music. They have a well balanced blend of old school & new school Death Metal influences. I actually loved the guitar sounds the most, it reminds me of when I first got into Death Metal music. They have an almost Thrash Metal style to them. The drums were so incredibly fast & powerful. The vocals are a combination of low Death Metal growls & mid ranged Death screams. There is no wonder why these guys are one of the leaders in the Polish Death Metal underground scene!!!
