| AETURNUS DOMINION - SEMPER TYRANIS ((9 track CD) GRINDHEAD RECORDS This is the debut album from this Australian Metal band. These guys blend together many elements from many styles of Metal music. They pull from Death, Thrash, Power & Traditional Heavy Metal styles. There is a more dominate Thrash & Power Metal sound in their music, but they blend in the other styles here & there. I liked the fast paced chugging Thrash sound they have the most. The vocals are a mix of clean Thrash & Power Metal styles with some heavier Thrash & Death Metal screams & growls tossed in. These guys take me back to the days when Death Metal & Thrash met head on. Fans of early 90's bands of this style will dig these guys! These guys play very fast, heavy & thunderous Death Metal music. I can hear lots of elements from old school & new school Death Metal music. There is a raw & aggressive brutal old school sound mixed with some very tight well structured & in depth new school styles. These guys are relentless. they give you a quick breather & then proceed to pound the shit out of you again. The vocals are done in a mid ranged raw harsh solid Death Metal growl style. | BIBLE OF THE DEVIL - THE DIABOLIC PROCESSION (9 track CD) CRUZ DEL SUR MUSIC Hailing from Chicago comes this four piece Metal band that adds in much flavor to their style. These guys add some elements of Thrash, Progressive, Power, Speed & Traditional Metal into their Rock N Roll sound. The music is well structured all through out & has a very good driving sound that keeps you wanting more & more. There is a cool screechy Classic Rock guitar sound mixed with stuff like MINISTRY, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, MOTORHEAD & IRON MAIDEN. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Metal style that reminded me of a blend of JUDAS PRIEST & MOTORHEAD. | BLADE OF THE RIPPER - SELF TITLED ( track CD) DEVIL DOLL RECORDS This is the newest band from Adam Neal, formerly of THE HOOKERS & NASHVILLE PUSSY. These guys play Metal all the way with mixtures of NWOBHM, American Thrash & European Power Metal. The music is hyper & fast at times, while others are done in a more slow drudgy almost Doom Metal style. I can hear some Stoner Metal influences at times also. There is a weird mix of all these styles, but it works very well. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Thrash/Power/Heavy metal style. The one band that kept coming to mind a lot is WRATH CHILD AMERICA. That was a great band & these guys are just as good if not better!!! |

He does all guitars, bass, vocals, lyrics & drum programming. This is one talented guy. he keeps churning out more & more Death Grind Gore music all the time. This time the music seems a little faster, more intense & a bit bit more on the Grindcore core side then past releases. The vocals are done in a mid to low ranged Death/Grind crossover style. | CHAOSFEAR - ONE STEP BEHIND ANGER (8 track CD) CORROSIVE MUSIK This is the newest release from this great Brazilian Metal band. These guys merge together elements of Thrash & Death Metal music to come up with their sound. the music sways back & forth between the two styles at times, but most of the time it meets right in the middle. The music is very tight powerful & extremely well put together. I loved the fast paced solid drumming all through out a lot. The vocals are done in a mid ranged harsh Death Thrash crossover style too. This is one hell of a great band. I liked everything about these guys & it's bands like CHAOSFEAR that continue to remind me why I love Metal music so much! Every Metal fan should have this disc in their collection!!! | CONSPIRACY - REINCARNATED (8 track CD) PULVERISED RECORDS CONSPIRACY plays some very well structured & well written Death Metal music. These guys have a bit of an old school styled Death metal sound as they add in lots of fast paced blasts, aggression & brutality. They also apply elements of new school Death Metal as well, with lots of change ups & technicality. I really liked the fast shredding guitar sound a lot. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Death Metal growl mixed with some groggy lower end Death screams. This is a Death metal band you can't go wrong with. There is definately something here for everyone into Death Metal! So go get it already, what are you waiting for!!! |

This is just an EP of the bands demos. These guys play ultra heavy & sick old school Death Metal music with some slight Thrash metal influences, especially in the guitars. The music is very tight & raw sounding, with lots of heavy aggressive blasting parts. The vocals are done in a mid to low ranged Death growl style. The music is very well put together & has many levels of depth & intenseity. I love how they go from all out Death bashing into a straight forward Thrash shredding & then into some more melodic & atmospheric Black Metal stuff. The vocals are a mix of mid ranged Black Thrash vocals & some lower end Death growls. These guys are fucking amazing & have always been one of my favorite bands in the underground scene! | HALO OF KNIVES - EAT GOD (11 track CD) GRINDHEAD RECORDS These sick bastards play some spastic & chaotic sounding Grindcore music that is very violent sounding. There are some elements of Metal mixed in there somewhere between all the Grinding madness. These guys are insane sounding. The music is hyper blasting crusty, chugging & has flavors of Noise, Crust & Experimental all mixed in. The music is crazy & just the way I like it. The vocals are done in a fast loud screaming psychotic sounding Grindcore / Noise style. If you like your music this way then you'll love this Violent-Core band a lot!!! These guys have a really cool sound & it's very powerful & angry sounding. They toss in lots of great change ups & breakdowns with some tempo changes & good scream a long chants!. There is a lot of tense adrenaline all through out their music. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Hardcore scream style. They take influences from the Boston, New Yprk & california Hardcore scenes & blend them all together to create their own sound. Any Hardcore collection would do good to have this disc included in it!!! |

This was released to spark a buzz for these guys until next year when their full length album debut drops! These guys have an old school styled Black Metal sound to their music. There are some really cold vibes going on in their music as well as some dark atmospheric sounds. The guitars are kind of harsh, sludgy booming drums to accompany them. | QUEST FOR AIDANCE - FALLEN MAN COLLECTION (8 track CD) PULVERISED RECORDS Wow! These guys are great! I don't much about this band, but they play some very tight & solid Death Metal music. The music is very heavy lower end Death Metal with an old school flare! The guitars have a chugging crunchy & fast style to them. I liked the spastic sound they have with the thick thunderous bass & drums. The vocals are done in a mid ranged to low end Death growl with some harsh growls tossed in at times. Some bands that come to mind are DEICIDE, MORTAL DECAY, SUFFOCATION, FLESHGRIND & INSATANITY. If your a fan of any of these bands or similar bands, then you would really want to pick this one up!!! |
| SINGLE POINT OF FAILURE - NOUVEAU CONCEPT: INSANITY IN FIVE ACTS (5 track CD) Self Released This is the first mini album from this Canadian band. These guys play a blend of Industrial, Death Metal & a bit of Grindcore with some experimentation. There are points in the songs that have an almost Techno sound to them as well. I liked all the different sound sampling that they put in their music a lot. There is a lot of fast paced parts that suddenly stop & take you into a slower more grooving sound then shoves you right back into the fast stuff! The vocals are done in a mid ranged harsh Industrial/Death Metal crossover scream/growl style. | SKYFORGER - KAUJA PIE SAULES (9 track CD) PARAGON RECORDS This is the re-release of the bands 1998 CD that was originally put out on MASCOT RECORDS. SKYFORGER play Latvian Pagan Metal music. This is a blend of Baltic Folk music & various Metal influences. They take some of the elements of Norwegian inspired Black Metal to 80's rooted Heavy Metal. These guys have a some what different sound than most Black metal bands. They have a cold harsh angry sound mixed with battle influenced Metal. There are a lot of changes through out their music, but all stay within in the Pagan Black Metal realm. The vocals are done in a mid ranged harsh Black Metal style. Old school Black Metal fans with an open mind will enjoy these guys a lot!!! |

Here he combines many different elements form many different Metal styles. There is a lot of Thrash Metal used as the foundation he builds from. Then he tosses in some elements of Power, Progressive, Black, Gothic, Speed & more to finish off his master piece. I love the contrast of the fast aggressive mixed with the slower more melodic & atmospheric parts. The vocals are done in the same concept of fast harsh screaming vocals with slower more melodic & clean ones. On top of all this there is some angelic & operatic female vocals in the blend too. | TOR MORROCK - THE DEATH OF SUMMER... (10 track CD) Self Released This is the early works of this Mid Wales based band named TOR MARROCK. This three piece plays some really cool conceptual Gothic Death Metal music. There is a dark cold vibe that blankets their sound a lot. The music has an almost Goth / Death Rock sound to it as well. There are some Industrial sounding guitar parts too. I liked the fact that this guys sound different than most bands I have heard out there. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Death Goth style as well that is growling, but is still understandable sounding with some more melodic Gothic clean vocals. | TRIPLE THREAT - INTO THE DARKNESS (13 track CD) BRIDGE NINE RECORDS These guys have a great old school Hardcore / Punk crossover style sound. I liked the fact that they have an 80's sounding Hardcore style, as this is some of the stuff I grew up listening to. I can hear many influences of BLACK FLAG, MINOR THREAT, AGNOSTIC FRONT, GANG GREEN & AGENT ORANGE all rolled into one. I loved this! The music has a very cool grooving driving sound with lots of stop & starts, breakdowns & chant alongs. The vocals are done in amid ranged Punk/Hardcore crossover style of the 1980's. Fans of the above bands or bands from that era will love these guys, because I really did! Check this new band out & support a great cause!!! |
| UNREAL OVERFLOWS - ARCHITECTURE OF INCOMPREHENSION (11 track CD) XTREEM MUSIC This is abnd I've been watching for a little bit now. these guys are from Spain & play some very technical & progressive sounding Death Metal music. They mix together elemenst from old school Death & new school Death metal styles. There is a strong heaviness with some great brutalness of old school as well as some very involved & well structured thought out new school influences. There are some very progressive & even melodic parts mixed in the fast paced & destructive Death Metal parts. The vocals are done in a mid ranged Death growl style that really reminded me of old CARCASS. Fans of bands like DEATH, CYNIC, ATHEIST, PESTILENCE & CARCASS will love these guys!!!
