| NOMINON STARTED BACK IN 1993. CAN YOU PLEASE GIVE A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BAND UP TO THIS POINT? NOMINON released a few demo tapes during the early/mid 90's & after that a couple of labels have released some albums & Ep's through out the years. WHY WAS THE NAME NOMINON CHOSEN AS THE BANDS NAME? It was the original vocalist Peter Nilsson who came up with the name NOMINON. It's a demon & it has a dark sound to it & we all still think it suits the band very well. WHO OR WHAT HAS HAD SOME IMPACT ON YOUR MUSIC & YOUR LIFE? Hard Rock & Heavy Metal in general. Also dark art movies & grotesque happenings in the world is a huge inspiration for us. |

| HOW WOULD YOU BEST DESCRIBE THE STYLE & SOUND OF NOMINON? Old school Metal of Death made with a lot of dedication of all that is dark, evil & satanic! YOUR LATEST RELEASE IS "RECREMATION" WHICH CAME OUT A WHILE AGO. HOW WELL HAS IT BEEN DOING IN THE UNDERGROUND SCENE? That's right, "RECREMATION" is our latest full length album that was released in 2005 & a year |
| later in USA via DEATHGASM/NECROHARMONIC. We have also released a collection CD of some hard to get tracks such as covers by REPULSION, WHIPLASH & VOIVOD as well as unreleased demo recordings & such last year 2006. "RECREMATION" is by far the most popular album NOMINON have released so far, but to be honest, we are looking forward for the release of the brand new album "TERRA NECROSIS". This album will make people gasp for air literally. I am pretty sure that people will notice that we have managed to do an album that will last as long as this world will continue to spin. THE CD WAS PUT OUT BY DEATHGASM HERE IN THE U.S. HOW DID YOU GET HOOKED UP WITH THEM & HOW HAS IT BEEN WORKING WITH THEM? We actually signed to NECROHARMONIC PRODUCTIONS that is owned by an old friend named Roy. When he was telling DEATHGASM RECORDS that he was about to put out the new album by NOMINON, they said directly that they wanted to be part of the release as well. So that was how we ended up working together with DEATHGASM RECORDS. For the new album "TERRA NECROSIS" it is actually DEATHGASM RECORDS in co-operation with IBEXMOON RECORDS (owned by John McEntee of INCANTATION) that will release the CD together. We are eager to see how this release will work out over there in the USA, as we do have pretty good distribution via RED DISTRIBUTION this time around. We are pleased with what DEATHGASM RECORDS has managed to do for NOMINON so far, no doubts about that. CAN YOU DESCRIBE THE COVER ARTWORK A BIT & WHO DID IT? The "RECREMATION" artwork was made by the classic undergroundish artist Chris Moyen from France. We choosed Chris because it's easy to work with him & he is a big fan of NOMINON, plus that he is definately one of the best underground artists there is. The design for the new album "TERRA NECROSIS" is made by a pretty young Swedish girl named Lena VH Morker. WHAT IS SOME OF THE SUBJECT MATTER IN YOUR LYRICS? WHO WRITES THE LYRICS? Most of the lyrics are written by our vocalist Daniel Gartoft. he is a damn good story teller from Hell. I personally think that his lyrics are among some of the best Death Metal lyrics around these days. Daniel also got a huge passion for a lot of horror movies & macabre happenings, which I am sure helps him a lot in his work. YOUR WEBSITE SAYS YOUR NEW RELEASE "TERRA NECROSIS" IS IN THE WORKS. CAN YOU GIVE SOME INFORMATION ON THIS RELEASE? DEATHGASM RECORDS together with IBEXMOON RECORDS will release this masterpiece in the USA & our so to speak main label called KONQUEROR RECORDS will release it in the rest of the world. The vinyl version will be released by BLOOD HARVEST RECORDS, which is a Swedish label with lots of cool Death Metal releases out already & lots of stuff coming up. They will also put out the LP version of the debut NOMINON album entitled "DIABOLICAL BLOODSHED" that was originally released on CD in 1999. |

| HOW DO YOU FEEL THE BAND HAS CHANGED OR IMPROVED OVER ALL THESE YEARS? The main thing I would say is that we have become a bit better musicians in general. Also, we know what we want to accomplish with our music & we don't have too high expectations from magazines & the commercial side of the business. NOMINON are a Death Metal band & the genre of Death Metal is meant to stay underground. If you want to make money you should choose to play something else. We do this because of our love & dedication to brutal & interesting music. WHY DO YOU THINK THE BAND HAS HAD SUCH A REVOLVING DOOR FOR BAND MEMBERS? If people get tired of playing or if they are not interested in continuing with playing with NOMINON, then there's nothing to do about it. Our guitarist Juha Sulasaimi is the only one of us, out of two original members, that has been a member of NOMINON since 1993, when he & Peter started the whole thing. Now we have had the same line up the last six months & it feels really good right now to be honest with you. But the truth is that you will never know about tomorrow, anything can happen! At last, I've personally been a member now for 6 years & I really feel that NOMINON are the best band I have ever been part of, so I do intend to stay as long as I breathe! |
| HOW DO YOU FEEL THE UNDERGROUND HAS CHANGED IN ALL THESE YEARS? From cassettes to CD-R's, that sucks. I love tapes. And also, I am a big fan of paper fanzines, I wished there could be more of them around. Nowadays people start their own internet based webzines just to get stuff for free. I hate that! SWEDEN IS KNOW FOR PRODUCING SOME OF THE BETTER BANDS IN THE UNDERGROUND SCENE. WHO DO YOU FEEL ARE SOME OF THE BETTER BANDS FROM SWEDEN. HOW WOULD YOU COMPARE THE SWEDISH SCENE TO THE REST OF THE SCENE? I will not go into the difference between bands from Sweden & the rest of the world, that's not of interest I would say. Yet I wish to praise some good bands that are still around doing what they know the best, to play good Death Metal with lots of energy. They are TRIBULATION, SWORN, INCANTATION, VITAL REMAINS, NECROPHOBIC, OBITUARY, UNLEASHED & a few more. It's pretty easy to see who are doing it by heart & who are doing it for the money. DO YOU GUYS PLAY OUT A LOT? WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR SHOWS THAT STICK OUT THE MOST? NOMINON have done a few European tours through out the last couple of years. It took the band 11 years to finally do a proper European tour, but it was worth the wait, I can assure you that. The shows that stick out would probably be Sarajevo (former Yugoslavia) in 2004. It was a big hall with only one light in the whole hall. It was definately one of the best audiences we have been playing for. Also Barcelona, Spain in 2005 & Trnava in Slovakia was awesome. As well as the Fuck The Commerce Festival in Germany May 2005. We really like to play the eastern parts of Europe. They really do enjoy some old school classic shit. WHAT DO THE MEMBERS OF THE BAND DO WHEN NOT DOING ANY WORK FOR THE BAND? I am a bus driver. Daniel is working at a brewery. Juha is working at the Swedish post. Christian is unemployed at the moment & Anders is a janitor. ARE YOU INTO ANY OTHER STYLES OF MUSIC BESIDES WHAY YOU PLAY? WHO ARE SOME OF THE BANDS YOU HAVE CURRENTLY BEEN LISTENING TO? I listen to a lot of different music. I adore music that speaks directly to my soul. It does not necessarily have to be all dark or gloomy stuff, yet that is mainly the music I do listen to the most of all. Some classic stuff I enjoy at the moment besides are own material is WATAIN's "SWORN TO THE DARK", VAN HALEN - anything, INVOCATOR's "ALTERATIONS" demo, DEAD HEAD's "THE FESTERING" demo, MORBID ANGEL - anything, ZZ TOP "MESCALERO", "TRES HOMBRES", "ELIMINATOR"...etc. |

| WHAT IS ONE THING PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRISED TO FIND OUT ABOUT YOU? That I went through a kidney transplant 4 years ago. WHAT CAN WE LOOK FORWARD TO NEXT FROM NOMINON? The release of the brand new album "TERRA NECROSIS" is up next. We will also be touring in Europe for a couple of weeks with American pioneers NUNSLAUGHTER during July. We really look forward to that. We are negotiating about a USA tour during the autumn as well, hopefully that will work out. There's always something happening in the world of NOMINON. | WHAT WERE YOU DOING BEFORE ANSWERING THIS INTERVIEW? WHAT WILL YOU DO NOW THAT IT'S DONE? I have been working today as a bus driver. After that I watched a hockey game on TV. Sweden beat Denmark 5 to 2 in the World Championship, so i am happy about that. Haha! Now I have spent some time answering this interview as well as having a beer as my only companion. Soon I will go to sleep, but first I will shave & just relax a little bit with a cup of tea or something like that. THANX A LOT FOR ANSWERING THIS INTERVIEW.
