I'm not a big fan of Demon Possession stories or movies. It's not that I can't imagine them being
possessed or something might be there, cause I loved
, it's just that the majority of them are not scary or are not done well. This film has
Sam Raimi's name attached to it so I knew I was going to enjoy it some what, plus I like Jeffrey Dean
Morgan. The mother and father of two young girls are going through a separation. They both have
custody of the girls and split the time between both of their homes. The dad takes the girls to a yard sale
where the youngest daughter asks him to buy her this mysterious box. Once they get it home they try
to figure a way to get it open and can't. There is a lot of weird writing on the outside as well. The little
girl eventually gets it open and it is filled with strange trinkets. It turns out to be a box holding a
demonic soul. The soul slowly starts to take over the girl and possesses her. It turns her evil and she
starts to do crazy things and act strange. The father tries to find someone who knows what is written on
the box and how they can rid their daughter of the demon. The story was well executed and done right.
There was the right amount of suspense, scares and creepiness. I think this is one of the best possession
films that has been done in the past 10 years!
