TROBAR is an amazing Folk Metal band out of Quebec, Canada. There seems to be a lot
of very good Folk Metal bands hailing from Canada these days. I think they are starting
to take over the scene. TROBAR is one of those bands that could lead the pack. They
play a heavier version of Folk Metal than some bands out there doing it. They are more
like a Death Metal band that is drowning in Folk Metal influences. I love the combination
of traditional Death Metal music mixed with non traditional Metal instruments. There are
typical drums & guitars, but they also add in keyboards, flutes and other worldly
instruments into the fold. The heavy and aggressive lower Death Metal flows very
smoothly into the more grooved out and chanting world music. What really helps bring
this along is the keyboards and flute. The vocals are mostly mid ranged Death growls with
chanting vocals, sing a long vocals and melodic clean vocals all added in as well. I am a
huge fan of Folk Metal music and have been to the PAGANFEST tour a few times. I
could definitely see TROBAR playing with some of the bigger Folk Metal bands out
there today. If you love Folk Metal, then your going to love TROBAR, especially if your
into bands like IN EXTREMO, KORPIKLAANI, ELUVEITIE, FINNTROLL,
METSATOLL, HEIDVOLK, ENSIFERUM, ALESTORM, TURISAS &
TROLLFEST!
