HORROR MOVIE REVIEWS
(April 2007)
THE RING VIRUS (R) AFDF (1999)
Starring: Eun-Kyung Shin, Seung-Hyeon Lee, Jin-Yeong Jeong, Chang-Wan Kim, Du-Na Bae & more.
This film is a Japanese horror movie. This is just about exactly the same as
THE RING movie or the original
Japanese version
RINGU. A women finds a mysterious tape & watches it. On the tape there is all this bizarre &
creepy stuff happen. Once she views it, she gets a phone call telling her she will die in 7 days. Anyone else who
views this will get the same treatment. She tries to figure out the meaning behind the tape & in the process save
her own life. This film was pretty creepy looking. It was a bit slower than the U.S. remake, but it was much
darker & freaky looking. If you don't mind reading subtitles, you should check this out & see where the story
originally cam from. Japanese do it better!!!
THE WOODS (R) SONY PICTURES (2006)
Starring: Emma Campbell, Bruce Campbell, Patricia Clarckson, Agnes Bruckner, Rachel Nichols & more.
A young girl who always fights with her mother rebels & sets the woods on fire behind her house. She is taking
to a boarding school for special girls. Once there she realizes she doesn't fit in with any of the other girls except
one. A few girls keep starting trouble with them & they are always fighting. One girl disappears & they tell her
about the legend of the house. How three young witches used to go there & were always picked. They invoked
the help of the woods to take care of these people. Now these women & the woods have control of the school.
This is why everyone is afraid & does what they are told. The ones who don't go missing! The story was pretty
good & it kept my interest. It reminded me of a darker version of
THE CRAFT.

WISHING STAIRS (R) TARTAN VIDEO (2003)
Starring: Ji-Hyo Song, Han-Byeo Park, An Jo, Jlyeon Park, Su-A Hong & more.
Two best friends that do everything together discover a special staircase where you must count each step up to
dance competition & the one girl wishes to beat the other. The other girl gets hurt when she is pushed down the
stairs & then she eventually kills herself. The other girl wishes for her to come back to life, which she does, but
she has gone crazy & starts killing all the girls in the school. There are some bizarre twists in the plot & some
really weird things too. This is a cool film that reminds me a little of the story about the Monkey Hand that
gives you wishes, but they always back fire on the person who makes them!!!

ZOMBIEZ (R) LIONS GATE FILMS (2005)
Starring: Jenica Garcia, Courtney S Bunbury, Randy Clarke, J. Teddy Garces, Jamel Scott & more.
Why? Why? Why? I don't know why
LIONS GATE FILMS would release something like this film. I know
they are known for releasing low budget horror films, but this was below them. This wouldn't even be good for
TROMA to put out. The film is about a woman who works on the docks & is harassed by the guys she works
with & is also attacked by Zombiez. The acting, story, dialogue, make up, locations, shooting & anything else
you can think of are all really, really bad. I have nothing against low budget films, but when your trying to be
like a major film & fail measurably it has to be said. This was like watching a terrible childs play shot on home
video. Do yourself a favor & avoid this film, there are much better Zombie films out there, be careful though
cause there are also a lot more bad ones out there too!!!
THE RING TWO (PG-13) DREAMWORKS (2005)
Starring: Naomi Watts, Simon Baker, David Dorfman, Elizabeth Perkins, Gary Cole, Sissy Spacek, Kelly Stables.
I was really looking forward to this sequel because I loved the first film as well as the original Japanese version &
the previews looked really good. In this second part the movie starts out about the tape again, where if you
watch it you get a phone call saying you will die in seven days. Once they get done dealing with that for about
ten minutes the rest of the film focuses on Rachel & Aidan from the first film. They soon become haunted by
Simara again. This time Simara wants to live again & she is coming for Aidan, Rachel's son. She does what she
can to haunt him till she takes over his body & becomes alive again. There were a few weird parts, but for the
most part the film wasn't scary at all. There were some good special effects at times, but I was kind of let down.
The first was so great, the second was a big disappointing!!!
