HORROR MOVIE REVIEWS
(August 2007)
BLOODRAYNE (R) ROMAR ENTERTAINMENT (2006)
Starring: Kristanna Loken, Michelle Rodriguez, Ben Kingsley, Michael Madsen, Billy Zane & more.
This is a vampire movie based on the video game of the same name. The film takes place during the dark ages
& is about Rayne, a half human half vampire. Her father was a vampire who raped her human mother. A few
years later he kills her mother right in front of her. She wants to seek revenge & kill him. She bands together
with a secret group of people who are vampire hunters to go after him. This movie was actually kind of
annoying. The story was bad, the acting was bad, the dialogue was bad, the fight scenes were poorly staged &
there really wasn't a whole lot of special effects. The only good things were there was a lot of blood & & there
really wasn't a whole lot of special effects. The only good things were there was a lot of blood & Kristanna is
topless in a very cheesy & pointless love sex scene. This is one of those films that looks much better than it
actually is!

HOSTEL (R) LIONS GATE FILMS (2006)
Starring: Jay Hernandez, Derek Richardson, Eythor Gudjonsson, Barbara Nedeljokova, Jana Kaderabkova.
This was the #1 film the first week in the theater & there's a good reason. This is a great film. This film goes
back to the original formula for Horror movies, but adds lots of intelligence of recent Horror films. The story
follows 3 back packers as they explore Europe in search of getting laid & wasted. They run into a guy who
knows a great place in Slovakia where they can do anything they want. As they arrive in town & at their
HOSTEL they are greeted by beautiful European women. They take them out to a club to party & then bring
them back & have lots of sex with them. Weird things start happening to them & they keep meeting different
strange people. Eventually they find them selves separated & in some abandoned factory on the outskirts of
town. Unfortunately they find out they are there for people who are on a "Murder Vacation". These people
pay lots of money to torture, deform & kill humans. This film was a little slow to begin with, but it kicks in
& kicks hard. This is one of those films that will be talked about for years by Horror fans. This is a must!!!

VENOM (R) DIMENSION FILMS (2005)
Starring: Agnes Bruckner, Jonathan Jackson, Laura Ramsey, D.J. Cotrona, Rick Cramer & more.
A man becomes possessed by 13 evil souls after he saves a woman from a car crash. She tells him to get her
suitcase in the back & he becomes trapped in the car. The suitcase holds 13 snakes which were used in a
voodoo ritual to suck the evilness out of dying people. He gets attacked by the snakes & the souls enter his
body. He returns from the dead & is evil as hell. He starts to terrorize & kill all the towns children in a
classic Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers style. Some of the story had slow spots & some of
the acting was a little bad, but it was still a decent flick with some really cool death scenes & good gory
special effects!!!

UNDERWORLD: EVOLUTION (R) SCREENGEMS (2006)
Starring: Kate Beckinsale, Scott Speedman, Tony Curran, Bill Nighy, Derek Jacobi & more.
In this sequel we get to see some of the history of the vampire & the lycans (werewolf) & how each race
came to be. There were two brothers Markus (bite by a bat) & William (bite by a wolf) who start the whole
race & also the war between the two. Kate is the death dealer, who's family built the tomb of William & is
the only one left who knows where it's located & how to unlock it. Markus is after her & now she must do
battle against both species. There is a lot more information unraveled in this film but there are also new
mysteries as well. There was a lot of good special effects, action, blood & a really good storyline in this film.
I really liked this sequel a lot better than the first & the first one was great. If your a fan of the first film then
you'll love this one as well!

CRY WOLF (UR) ROGUE UNIVERSAL PICTURES (2005)
Starring: Julian Morris, Lindy Booth, Jared Padalcki, Jon Bon Jovi, Sandra McCoy & more.
A girl is murdered in the woods near a prep school & the killer is never found. Some kids at the school decide
to make up a story about a serial killer who is stalking the students at the school. As they make up more &
more lies about the killer, people start dying off in the same fashion as said in their emails they are sending
out. The prank becomes really serious & out of control. There is a twist at the end of the film that keeps you
guessing all through out the movie. This turned out to better than I was expecting it to be, & was a decent
horror film!!!

THE FOG (UR) SONY PICTURES (2005)
Starring: Tom Welling, Maggie Grace, Selma Blair, Deray Davis, Kenneth Welsh & more.
This is about a small island town off the coast of Oregon, where everybody knows everybody. There is an
unveiling of a statue of the four founders of the town. Some mysterious fog rolls in & blankets the entire
town. It turns out that the fog holds the ghost of a ship of people who the four founders robbed & burned to
death. The ghost are back to seek revenge on the towns people. The story was a little week & had some
wholes in it here & there. The acting was weak as well. The best part of this film was the special effects.
There was noting too great about this film & was actually kind of a let down. I've never seen the original so I
don't know how it stacks up to the won from the 80's.

VISITOR Q (R) ALPHAVILLE / CINEROCKET (2001)
Starring: Kenichi Endo, Shungiku Uchida, Kazushi Watanabe, Shoko Nakahara, Fujiko & more.
I was a little taken back by this movie because I wasn't expecting anything like this. This is a very bizarre
film. This is a Japanese film about a father who is a failed former T.V. reporter. He tries to do a documentary
about violence & sex among youths. In doing so, he has sex with his daughter, who is a prostitute. He also
films his son being humiliated & hit by classmates. "Q" is a stranger who gets himself involved in this bizarre
family's actions. His son beats his mom, has sex with her & is also a prostitute & a heroin addict. The mother
always squirts breast milk on the people she has sex with. This was a very strange movie. It's a little slow at
times & you need to read subtitles, but it's definitely a weird viewing worth checking out!!!
SAW II (R) Twisted Pictures / Lions Gate Films (2005)
Starring: Donnie Wahlberg, Shawnee Smith, Tobin Bell, Franky G, Glenn Plummer & more.
I loved the first film, so I was hoping to love this film. I did. Sometimes sequels never live up to the first one.
This one surpassed it. This time there are more victims trapped in a house that is being pumped with poison
in the air. They must find their way to escape the house & survive. The police find the killer from the first
film & he toys with them about where the victims are that they can see from video monitors he has set up.
There is more twists & surprises in this film as well as more gore & blood. There is even another good twist
at the end of the film as well. This was probably the best movie I saw all year long & has the best tag line for
a movie! "Oh Yes, there will be blood!" This is a must see for any fan of intelligent horror films!!!

SORORITY HOUSE MASSACRE 2 (R) New Horizons Home Video (1990)
Starring: Gail Harris, Melissa Moore, Dana Bentley, Stacia Zhivago, Toni Naples & more.
Five sorority girls find an old house that they eventually buy & want to turn into their new sorority house.
girls spend the night & will help the movers in the morning. After the girls shower & get settled they start
getting creeped out by the weird neighbor, who keeps poking in to see what they are doing. They find a Ouija
board & start messing around with it & then some really weird stuff starts happening & the girls start getting
murdered chicks in showers (for the typical horror movie cliché) Worth at least one watch!!!
SPIDER BABY (PG) AMERICAN GENERAL PICTURES (1968)
Starring: Lon Chaney, Jr., Carol Ohmart, Quinn K Redekker, Beverly Washburn, Jill Banner.
This film is about three women who are the last generation of a family with a strange disease. The girls
digress mentally to the age of ten as they get older. The chauffeur takes care of them & covers up their
problems. Trouble starts when distant relatives arrive to get the families estate. The movie was a little slow,
but it was weird enough to keep you interested. Not the greatest film, but worth checking out at least once!!!
