HORROR MOVIE REVIEWS
(December 2008)
DEAD MARY (R) GENIUS PRODUCTS (2007)
Starring: Domique Swan, Marie-Josee Colburn, Steven MacCarthy, Maggie Castle, Michael Majeski & more.
A group of friends get together for a fun filled getaway at a cabin in the woods. They all are having a great
normal fun weekend until they decide to play the game "Dead Mary". Dead Mary was a game where if you
repeat her name 5 times in the mirror she comes to life & bad things will happen. A few of them go into the
bathroom & repeat her name 5 times. Strange things start to happen & friends start turning up dead as each
of them start hacking each other apart. Everyone is suspicious of each other & don't trust anyone. The film
was pretty decent, it was more suspenseful with some pretty decent gore scenes in it. Not a too original
story, but done much better than most other B-movies out there!
MICROWAVE MASSACRE (NR) MIDNIGHT VIDEO (1983)
Starring Jackie Vernon, Loren Schein, Al Troupe, Marla Simon, Claire Ginsberg & more.
This was one of those movies you knew you weren't going to expect much from, so the director actually
dubs it as "The Worst Horror Movie Of All Time!". It is definitely one of the worst Horror flicks out there.
A construction worker comes home everyday to his annoying, mean & nagging wife & her horrible cooking.
He snaps one night & kills his wife & then chops her up & cooks her in his new microwave. Then he begins
to eat her as his meals. He then goes out & kills anyone else that gets on his nerves & does the same thing.
The story is very cheesy, the acting is very bad & the dialogue is even worst. This is one of those movies
you never really want to watch, but will always remember tell people about it!
ONE MISSED CALL (PG-13) WARNER BROS. (2008)
Starring: Shannyn Sossamon, Edward Burns, Ana Claudia Talancon, Ray Wise, Azura Skye & more.
A bunch of cell phone messages describe victims deaths, which they shortly then come true. A friend of a
bunch of people who have died figures this out & then contacts the police. She is quickly dismissed by them
all except one. He tries to help her solve & stop these deaths from happening. The girls receives a message
herself & they both try to stop her death from happening. This was a remake of a Japanese Horror movie of
the same name. This was actually one of the better of the Japanese remakes of recently. The movie is more
of a suspenseful thriller than an Horror film. Check out both versions & decide for yourself which is better.

P2 (R) SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT (2007)
Starring: Wes Bentley, Rachel Nichols, Simon Reynolds, Philip Akin, Stephanie Moore & more.
It's Christmas Eve & female workaholic his finishing up some last minute projects. She goes to leave the
building & heads down to the parking garage. Her car doesn't start & she goes to get the parking security
guard. He tries to help her, but no such luck. The girl heads back up to the building & is attacked. The
security guard is obsessed with her & takes her hostage. A string of strange things happen & she eventually
gets free. He chases her & then the tables start to turn & she begins to hunt him down. This was a very cool,
low budget film that should have done a lot better than is actually did. This is well worth watching over
again!

POPCORN (R) RCA / COLUMBIA PICTURES (1991)
Starring: Jill Schoelen, Tom Villard, Dee Walace, Derek Rydall, Kelly Jo Minter & more.
A group of film students who love classic 1950's type Horror movies decide to hold a film festival. They end
up doing it in an old movie house. They want to do it with lots of live special effects through out each of the
films showings. The movie goers are eating it up, but one fan takes things too far & starts to kill a bunch of
people. He turns into a blood thirsty lunatic & takes things to a new level & people don't know what is real
or fake. The film was kind of slow moving & a little boring at times, but about half way through things pick
up. This film would fit perfectly in the Slasher genre. This is good for at least one viewing, but really become
a fan favorite, even though it's considered a classic!
PROM NIGHT (PG-13) SONY PICTURES (2008)
Starring: Brittany Snow, Scott Porter, Jessica Stroup, Dana Davis, Collins Pennie & more.
This is yet another remake of a classic Horror flick. A group of teens are looking forward to their most
important night of the year & that's
PROM NIGHT. The prom is being held in a very luxurious hotel where
all the teens have rooms upstairs for the night. An escaped convict who had an obsession with one of the
students makes his way to the hotel. Once one of the kids turns up dead, the panic starts & everyone &
anyone can become a victim. The police are headed there to hunt the guy down. This was actually done kind
of good, but I still enjoyed the original film better!

RETURN TO HORROR HIGH (R) ANCHOR BAY (1987)
Starring: Richard Brestoff, George Clooney, Vince Edwards, Al Fann, Panchito Gomez & more.
A small low budge film crew decides to shoot a film in an old high school that has been shut down. The high
school was shut down, because of a grisly murder that happened there. They figured it would help sell their
Horror film in the end. As more & more people are signed on to the film & production starts, the crew & cast
start getting killed off in many different ways. The film crew is trying to finish the film & stay alive as well.
Is the killer back or is it something else. The film is done in a kind of campy style with lots of cheesy jokes
mixed in with the Horror. There is a twist in the end of the film as well. Not a great flick, but once again,
another film that is considered to be a classic Horror film!
REVENGE OF THE LIVING DEAD GIRLS (R) RETROMEDIA (1987)
Starring: Veronique Catanzaro, Kathryn Charly, Sylvie Novak, Anthea Wyler, Laurence Mercier & more.
A deadly waste contaminates the milk supply in a small town in France. The tainted milk kills three teenage
girls who drink it. Some how, more chemical waste accidentally falls on their graves & the girls corpses rise
from the dead. These sexy zombies set out to destroy those who are responsible  for corrupted milk. They
also end up killing anyone that gets in their way. This film was a little hard to watch, maybe because of it
being an foreign film, but it's mostly because it's weirdly written & very low budget. It wasn't the worst
Zombie flick out there, but it definitely isn't one of my favorites. True Zombie fans may like it, but it's not a
film all Horror fans will enjoy!
SHIVERS (NR) IMAGE ENTERTAINMENT (1975)
Starring: Paul Hampton, Joe Silver, Lynn Lowry, Allan Kolman, Susan Petrie & more.
This is the first feature film by David Cronenberg, that exposes our deep rooted fears of our bodies & our
sexuality. A scientist unleashes a sexually transmitted parasite that destroys inhibitions in the host body. It
causes people to go insane & kill other people in some crazy & violent ways, but it also makes people have
wildly outrageous sex so that the parasite can be passed from host to host. This was a kind of odd & strange
film, but definitely one of the cooler low budget films from the 70's. If you have never seen this film, check it
out. Rumors have mentioned that this maybe stated for a remake!
THE SICK HOUSE (R) NEW LINE CINNEMA (2007)
Starring: Gina Philips, Alex Hassell, Kellie Shirley, Andrew Knott, Jack Bailey & more.
Gina Philips (from
JEEPERS CREEPERS) is an archaeologist who is excavating the site of a 17th century
plague hospital. During her dig she unleashes the spirit of a murderous doctor. She has to do as much as she
can to thwart the dormant evil spirits of the hospital from coming to life. Four young adults who have broken
into the abandoned hospital to party find themselves fighting for their lives. They must all work together to
find a way out or they will all fall victim to
THE SICKHOUSE. This film was decent, but a little slow at
parts & some of the people were a little annoying, but a cool flick over all.
