HORROR MOVIE REVIEWS (December 2009)
|
FREEDOM LAND (R) SONY PICTURES (2006)
Starring: Samuel Jackson, Julianne Moore, Edie Falco, Ron Elder, William Forsythe & more.
one night her car is hijacked & her son was still in the back seat asleep. She goes to the police to get a search
going. They lock down the projects which causes lots of tension with it's residents. Lost of racial stuff
erupts between the police & the residents. Things start to get really twisted with the search & Moore's
story about what happened. There is a twist in the end, that you maybe able to figure out as the story starts
to close. The film had some really tense moments & a really good story to it!!!
SIX STRING SAMURAI (PG-13) PALM PICTURES (1998)
Starring: Jeffrey Falcon, Justin McGuire, Kim De Angelo, Stephane Gauger, Clifford Hugo & more.
This is an independent film that was kind of interesting. It's about a the Russians bombing the planet in
1959 & taking control of the world. The only city still standing is Lost Vegas & their king "Elvis" was just
killed. Now anyone can go to the city to become king. The lead character is a Buddy Holly look alike, who
is traveling the road to Lost Vegas to become king. Along the way he runs into many interesting characters
& saves a little boy, who tags along on his journey. The film reminded me of THE WIZARD OF OZ meets
THE ROAD WARRIOR, with lots of Rockabilly & Samurai stuff tossed in the mix. This was a pretty
decent film with a cool kind of twist & mix of styles. This is well worth checking out.!!!
THE DARK (R) SONY PICTURES (2005)
Starring: Sean Bean, Maria Bellos, Richard Eflyn, Maurice Roeves, Abigal Stone & more.
with the mother & blames her for everything that has happened & treats the mother like crap. They go to
home that he is redesigning. Strange things happen & the daughter kills herself in the ocean near the home.
The mother starts seeing a little girl who knows the daughter, but acts very strange. There is a twist in the
end that some what pulls everything together, but leaves some stuff open. Very bizarre & a little dark, which
I liked!!!

TRAUMA (R) WARNER BROS (2004)
Starring: Colin Firth, Naomie Harris, Dorothy Duffy, Sean Harris, Mena Suvari & more.
A man wakes up & finds himself going through some crazy & traumatic experiences. He was in a car
accident with his wife & can't cope with the fact that she died. He keeps seeing these crazy things & dealing
with different visions & stuff. He meets some people who try to help him through the process , but he
keeps getting a little weird. The film has some slow parts, but then kicks back in a little after it all the time.
There is a little twist in the end that kinds of pulls everything together. It's a decent film, but not one I
would watch over & over again.

VAMPIRELLA (R) CONCORDE-NEW HORIZONS (1996)
Starring: Taliso Soto, Roger Daltry, Richard Joseph Paul, Brian Bloom, Corinna Harney & more.
I heard this movie was bad, but didn't expect it to be this bad. The movie based on the comic book of the
same name. VAMPIRELLA comes to earth from her home planet of Drakulon to avenger her fathers death
& kill Vladimer Dracula. He killed her father & fled to earth to hide. He takes many forms over the years &
this was very bad, from the script, acting, costumes, special effects & so on. I love cheesy B-movies, but
this one was trying too hard to be a great multi million blockbuster & has failed horribly. Everything bad I
heard about this film was true. Taliso, who plays Vampirella, was the best thing about this film & that is
only cause she looked like the character in the comic book!!!
SLAUGHTERHOUSE (R) EMBASSY HOME ENTERTAINMENT (1987)
Starring: Joe B Barton, Don Barrett, Sherry Leigh, Bill Brinsfield, Jason Collier, Dave Fogel & more.
This is an independent horror flick about an old slaughterhouse. A family owns a slaughterhouse that is
being shut down by the government for unsanitary reasons. The father won't let his family business be shut
down, so he sends his crazy son to kill them all. He uses many devices from the slaughterhouse to brutally
murder his victims. The film is kind of like the great TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE movie, but not as
good. There were some really cool gory parts & lots of blood. This is one that's worth checking out if your a
gore hound!!!

SEED OF CHUCKY (R) ROGUE PICTURES (2004)
Starring: Jennifer Tilly, Redman, Brad Dorif, Billy Boyd, John Watters & more.
In this new edition of the Chucky legacy, there's a new edition to the family. A Hollywood movie is being
on TV he travels to Hollywood to see them, thinking they're his parents. When he gets there they won't
talk or move, so he reads an incantation on the necklace he has to bring them to life. They go right to killing
people on the set. They want to become humans again, so they find two people to be their human body
hosts. These people happen to be Jennifer Tilly & her limo driver. They first artificially in pregnant
Jennifer, so their new found child can become human as well. Of course everything goes wrong & the
killings continue. This Chucky film has gone down the road of more comical than horror. There were some
cool parts, but it wasn't as good as BRIDE OF CHUCKY.

PRINCE OF DARKNESS (R) UNIVERSAL PICTURES (1987)
Starring: Donald Pleasence, Jameson Parker, Victor Long, Lisa Blount, Alice Cooper & more.
I was actually looking forward to checking out this movie. It's a John Carpenter film so it couldn't be too
bad right? The movie is about a group of people who find a mysterious fountain in the basement of a
church. The fountain drips some weird green glowing ooze. The ooze supposedly possess the soul of Satan.
The ooze takes over the bodies of some of the people in the church. It controls some of the people to attack
& kill other people. The people they kill turn to zombies & come back to life & invade the church. The
story was a bit weak & the acting wasn't the greatest either. Donald Pleasence was the best as the priest &
there is a few parts with a homeless guy played by Alice Cooper. There were a few cool gore parts, but
over all this wasn't one of John Carpenter's best films!!!

MANIAC (R) MAGNUM MOTION PICTURES, INC. (1980)
Starring: Joe Spinell, Caroline Munro, Gail Lawrence, Kelly Piper, Rita Montone, Tom Savini & more.
This film is about Frank, who's mother was killed in a car accident years before. He misses his mother very
didn't like. He goes on a killing spree of young women, seeing each of these women as his mother. He kills
them & then scalps them all. He places the scalps on mannequins he has displayed around his apartment.
The film is decent for an 80's slasher film, but kind of slow for todays time. The acting was a bit cheesy, but
is worth watching for some of the gore & death scenes. All slasher fans will want to check this one out!!!
