HORROR MOVIE REVIEWS (February 2011)
|
100 TEARS (NC-17) MANIC ENTERTAINMENT (2007)
Starring: Raine Brown, Joe Davison, Georgia Chris, Jack Amos, Jeff Dylan Graham & more.
Two ambitious investigators get a hot tip on a serial killer. They decide to investigate which will help them climb
up the ladder and up their credit in the department. They must infiltrate a group of carnival folks to find out who
the serial killer is. They get deep involved in the case and become the next victims of the killer. It happens to be a
clown from the carnival that is doing all the killing. This is a low budget Horror flick, but is done really well. The
story line is a little typical for a Horror flick, but the writing, acting and especially the gore and death scenes are
done really well. I got to meet Jack Amos (the clown killer) at a convention and he was really cool and does a
great job in the film. Check this slasher flick out!

APRIL FOOL'S DAY (R) PARAMOUNT PICTURES (1986)
Starring: Jay Baker, Pat Barlow, Lloyd Berry, Deborah Foreman, Deborah Goodrich & more.
A group of college friends take a trip to celebrate their last year of school. They decide to go to their friends
mansion which is on a seclude island. As the friends begin to party and celebrate they each have a secret that is
soon revealed. Once the person's secret is revealed the person soon ends up dead. Everyone suspects everyone
else of the murders, but no one can really tell if everything they see is real or just a really bad April Fools Day
joke. This is a classic Horror flick that most people either hate or love. There is a good amount of gore and
surprises to please Horror fans. There is a remake of this film out, but it really isn't a remake. It is more of a new
film, but bears the same name, to play off the popularity of the original. If you haven't seen this film before, then
you must. It's one every Horror fan must see!
FAUST: LOVE OF THE DAMNED (UR) FANTASTIC FACTORY (2000)
Starring: Mark Frost, Isabel Brook, Jennifer Rope, Jeffrey Combs, Monica Van Campen & more.
John is distraught after the brutal murder of his beloved girlfriend. He is approached by and agent of the devil
only known as "M". He offers him a deal with the devil to seek the revenge he so much desires. He gets his wish
and receives some extra super powers that lets him take out the revenge on anyone committing horrible crimes.
The longer he obtains the powers from the devil the harder it is for him to control them. The powers are making
him do more and more evil and violent things. Now he has the struggle of fighting off the urges of doing horrific
things. This movie is based on a comic book of the same name. The comic was done way better than the movie.
The film is OK for one viewing, but done a little cheesy. The soundtrack is a really killer Metal soundtrack
though. Watch the film and then pick up the soundtrack!
FINAL DESTINATION (R) NEW LINE CINEMA (2000)
Starring: Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Kerr Smith, Kristen Cloke, Daniel Roebuck & more.
I know if your reading this then you've most likely seen this film. I have seen it many times and recently
watched it again and decided to review it. Alex is a teen who class trip is to go to Paris. As his class boards the
plane along with some teachers. Alex has a premonition that the plane is going to blow up and starts freaking
out. He is escorted off the plane along with some of the students and a teacher. As they wait for the police in the
terminal they watch the plane blow up in the sky on take off. They feel they have cheated death and so does
death. Death chases each of the people down and tries to kill them off in really creepy and mysterious ways that
turns out looking like accidents. This is a really cool flick with a new original take on the Horror genre. Lots of
original death scenes and lots of gore. Check out the 5th installment coming out soon.
HELLRAISER: HELLWORLD (R) MIRAMAX FILMS (2005)
Starring: Lance Henriksen, Katheryn Winnick, Christopher Jacot, Khary Payton, Doug Bradley & more.
This is the eight installment of the Clive Barker HELLRAISER series. In this one a group of friends get sucked
into playing some online cyber games. They then get an invite to a special party. They don't know who the host
is or why they were chosen, but they still decide to go. Once they arrive everything thing seems typical of a
regular party. They soon find out who the host is and he slowly reveals why they were chosen. They find out
they were brought to sacrifice their souls to Pinhead and the rest of the Cenobites. This film plays off as a little
different than the rest of the franchise. It's done more like a teen slasher film than the dark demonic and horrific
version of the first few films. There isn't much of the Cenobites presence in this one either. The film is still
pretty decent, but not as good as the first four films!
THE FOURTH KIND (PG-13) UNIVERSAL PICTURES (2009)
Starring: Milla Jovovich, Charlotte Milcard, Will Patton, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Elias Koteas & more.
Dr. Abigail Tyler is an Alaskan psychiatrist who deals with a lot of people. She starts video taping her sessions.
She starts to uncover that her patients have been experiencing the fourth kind: alien abduction. As she starts
delving deeper into their minds strange things start to surface. They start acting strange and weird things start
happening during the sessions. These aliens start messing with the doctors mind and life as well. The patients
start doing terrible things to their families and others. The doctors own daughter goes missing and her son
becomes deathly afraid of her. She goes mentally crazy or so the authorities think. The creepy thing is that this is
based on true events and they splice the film with actual footage of the sessions and interviews.

THE HAUNTED WORLD OF EL SUPERBEASTO (R) ANCHOR BAY (2009)
Starring: Sheri Moon Zombie, Brian Posehn, Clint Howard, Dee Wallace, Ken Foree & more.
Rob Zombie adapts his comic book series into an animated feature. It fallows ex-Mexican wrestler El
Superbeasto and his sister Suzi-X as they try to save the world from the evil clutches of Dr. Satan. This film is
exactly what you would expect from the twisted mind of Rob Zombie. There is lots of craziness, gore, nudity,
violence and vulgar language. The movie plays off like and old school cartoon that's done in the vein of the
original Scooby-Doo cartoon mixed with some Addams Family & The Munsters along with the 60's Batman TV
show. There is also a lot of references to Horror films and other stuff in the Horror genre. I wasn't sure if I would
like this film, but after the second viewing really love this flick! A must for all fans of Rob's films and Horror.

THE HAUNTING OF MOLLY HARTLEY (PG-13) FREESTYLE RELEASING (2008)
Starring: Haley Bennett, Jake Weber, Chace Crawford, Shannon Woodward, Shanna Collins & more.
Molly is having a hard time dealing with her mothers recent psychotic breakdown. They decide to move to a
different location so she can start over at a new school. She befriends a fellow senior and tries to live out a
normal life. There is a horrifying truth about her mother that is slowly being revealed. When Molly turns 18 she
will be held accountable for a super natural bargain that was made long ago. This is a creepy teen Horror flick
that plays out like a ghost story, but is much more than that. Not the best supernatural Horror movie out there,
but it's definitely one of the better ones in recent years.
THE PROWLER (R) SANDHURST (1981)
Starring: Vicky Dawson, Christopher Goutman, Lawrence Tierney, Farley Granger, Cindy Weintraub & more.
Rosemary and her date were brutally murdered by a prowler on their graduation night in 1945. Rumor had it that
it was a jilted soldier return home from the war. Thirty years later, for the first time the dance is being held again.
All the teens are geared up and ready to party, but soon the fun will end. Shortly after the graduation dance ends
the teens are slowly being killed off. The teens are taken out in some horrific and gruesome ways. Is it The
Prowler or someone else, either way the kids are dying and they need to be stopped. This is considered one of
the classic Horror films from the eighties and one of the original teen slasher films. This also shows off some of
the great SFX of Tom Savini. Check out this classic Horror flick!
Starring: April Betts, Patrick Burdine, Eric Coffin, Gregor Collins, Ron Jeremy & more.
A coven of sexy witches use a strip club as a cover for their lair. They use it to lure in unsuspecting victims to
sacrifice. In order to remain together the femme fatales need to kill 666 victims before Halloween night and the
arrival of the Dark Lord. There isn't a ton of gore or anything in this film, it's even a little cheesy in the story and
acting, but it does make up a little with the nudity through out the film. Not one of the best films out there, but
still worth at least one viewing.
