HORROR MOVIE REVIEWS
(January 2007)
MARK OF THE DEVIL (R) HALLMARK RELEASING (1970)
Starring: Herbert Lom, Udo Keir, Olivera Vuco, Reggie Nalder, Herbert Fux & more.
Wow! This Belgium film was quite intense. It takes play in the olden days when Christianity ruled the
world. The people of this town & especially the church & town leaders are on a hunt for witches. Anyone
can accuse anyone of being a witch & they are tortured until they confess or die. Many people were torture
for real in history of these means. They would whip, burn, puncture, beat even rape these victims. Once
they were convinced they were witches they were burned alive in the town square. This is a very disturbing
film, but is one that is worth watching more than once. When this film was released in the theater they
would hand out barf bags!!!
PITCH BLACK (R) USA FILMS (2000)
Starring: Vin Diesel, Radha Mitchell, Cole Hauser, Keith David, Claudia Black & more.
A transport ship crashes on a unknown planet & only half the people aboard survive. All of them were in
sleep chambers during the crash except the two pilots. They scan the planet, which looks pretty vacant.
They don't find any people, but they do find many remains of buildings & vehicles showing that humans
were there. They quickly discover that the 3 moons will soon go away & the pitch black atmosphere takes
over. When the darkness comes, so do the predator creatures that inhabit this planet. They want nothing but
to eat & kill their prey. Their prey is anything that is alive, which is just these few survivors. They must
fight to stay alive through the night & escape the planet. This was a cool sci-fi film with some cool special
effects & a decent story. Check this film out, especially before you see

SEE NO EVIL (R) LIONS GATE FILMS (2006)
Starring: Kane, Christina Vidal, Luke Pegler, Samantha Noble, Michael J Pagan, Rachael Taylor & more.
A group of young kids who were in a correctional facility are taking to an old hotel to help refurbish the
building. The thing they don't know, but soon discover a few secrets the hotel hides. One major is the man
named Jacob who is going around killing people for their sins. The only people he has not killed is the
woman with cross tattoos. One by one he kills of all the kids in different gruesome & bloody gory ways.
The story was pretty cool & so was the death scenes, but the actors are kind of annoying, so you really
can't wait for them to die. This could be placed in a category of 80's type slasher films! This is why I loved
this flick!

SUMMER OF FEAR (PG) INTERPLANETARY PICTURES (1978)
Starring: Linda Blair, Lee Purcell, Jeremy Slate, Jeff McCracken, Fran Drescher & more.
Wes Craven directed this film which was originally done for television. After her aunt dies in a car accident
Linda Blair's cousin comes to live with her family. This is a cousin she has never meet before. Once she
arrives many strange things start happening & her family starts acting weird. Linda doesn't like the cousin &
thinks she is a witch. She gets help from some friends to prove to her family of the girls evil doings. The
story was OK for a TV film, but could have had more added to it for a real release. It was funny seeing a
very young Linda Blair & Fran Drescher in this film though & you can see where Wes Craven starts his
great career from!!!
THE CROW: SALVATION (R) DIMENSION FILMS (DVD) 2000
Starring: Kirsten Dunst, Eric Mabius, Fred Ward, Jodi Lyn O'Keefe, Debbie Fan & more.
In this third sequel to the
CROW series the story follows the same path as the others. A guy comes back as
THE CROW after his girlfriend was killed. This was bit different though. He was accused of her death &
was executed, but he didn't kill the girl. He comes back to reek vengeance on those who actually committed
them. Eric played the
CROW part very well & I thought he did a great job. The story is a bit low budget &
is not nearly as good as the original, but it is definitely better than any of the other sequels. This is worth
watching!!!

THE OMEN: 666 (R) 20TH CENTURY FOX (2006)
Starring: Julia Stiles, Liev Schreiber, Seamus Davey Fitzpatrick, Marshall Cupp, Giovanni Lambardo & more.
In this remake of the 1970's original basically everything stays the same. When a couple is having a baby in
the hospital the husband is told the baby was lost, but they have another new born that they can have
because the mother died in childbirth. They take the baby & all these strange things keep happening around
the kid. People are dying, dogs are attacking & strange people keep coming into their lives. They later find
out the boy is the devil reincarnated. He has come to take over earth & they must find a way to kill him.
This remake stays pretty close to the original, except for a few slight things. If you seen the original, you
won't get many surprises from this one. It was just as good as the original in my opinion!

WHITE NOISE (PG-13) GOLD CIRCLE FILMS (2005)
Starring: Michael Keaton, Chandra West, Deborah Kara Unger, Ian McNiece, Sarah Strange.
White Noise is what is actually known as E.V.P. (Electronic Voice Phenomenon). This film is based on true
events. Michael Keaton is a contractor who's wife is a writer. A few weeks before her book is released she
who has been receiving messages from his wife on the other side. She starts contacting him & giving him
messages. She tries to tell him about women who will be killed soon. He doesn't know this at first until one
of the women contacts him after she is murdered. Then he pieces together some of her messages & is able to
save a babies life, right before it is to be killed. Who ever is doing this from the other side starts to come for
Michael Keaton. The movie is a little slow in the beginning, but quickly kicks in & gets a bit freaky. If you
believe in E.V.P. then you'll
enjoy this film a lot. I did!!!

VAMPS: DEADLY DREAMGIRLS (R) B+ PRODUCTIONS (1995)
An older woman wants some excitement in her boring life so she tries to get a job in a strip club. She does a
good enough audition to get the position. Once she starts working there she slowly finds out they are all
vampires. Two of her friends, one being a priest, try to get her to quit & destroy the deadly vamps. The
movie was very slow, dry & done very cheesy. The best part of this flick was that there were a decent
number of good looking women who got naked a lot. Not for vampire fans, but more for fans of soft core
adult films!!!
