APRIL FOOL'S DAY (R) Sony Pictures (2008) Starring: Taylor Cole, Josh Henderson, Scott Taylor Compton, Joe Egender, Jennifer Sieber & more. This is a remake of the 1980's Horror film. The only thing is they completely changed the whole story, so it's more of a sequel than a remake. A bunch of friends gather for a rich friends birthday party. One of the friends drugs another's drink as a prank, but the girl has a reaction & falls from the upstairs balcony & dies. A year later the friends gather at her grave site & get a strange package delivered to them there. It mentions that if they don't come clean about what happened they will all die. They soon get killed off one by one in like in the original one. The film was cool for a teen Horror flick, but the original was much better!
ARE YOU SCARED? (R) LIONS GATE FILMS (2006) Starring: Carlee Avers, Brad Ashten, Soren Bowie, Caia Coley, Erin Consalui & more. This film was a bit of a rip off of the SAW & HOSTEL movies, but done on a lower budget & definitely not done as well. A bunch of teens are kidnapped & drugged. They all wake up in some abandoned warehouse & have no idea how they got there. They are being watched by cameras placed everywhere. They hear a voice that tells them they are placed on a game show where the only way to win is survive. They are placed in lots of situations that are life threatening. Many of the kids get killed off in bloody ways, which is really good much rather watch the SAW films over & over again!
CRADLE OF FEAR (R) Pragmatic Pictures (2001) Starring: Dani Filth, David McEven, Edmund Dehn, Emily Booth, Eileen Daly & more. I wanted to see this flick cause I knew Dani Filth of CRADLE OF FILTH was in it. It's about a few different people who's stories intermix in some sort of way. The majority of the film follows Dani Filth's people & drinking their blood. Some of the other stories didn't make much sense to me, but there are some really gory & bloody parts, done in a low budget kind of way. This was pretty decent & much better than a lot of the b-Horror movies out there. Check it out, even if your not a CRADLE OF FILTH fan! www.CRADLEOFFEAR.com
DEAD MEAT (R) DEADMEAT PRODUCTIONS (2007) Starring: Jo Martin, Martina Laird, Claire Perkins, Robbie Gee, Kwabena Manso & more. This is another great low budget Zombie Horror film. This is a very well done B-Horror movie that would have been huge if they had a bigger budget. The movie follows some tourist down a country side road when they hit someone. They get out to help & the Zombie carnage begins. It seems that there has been tainted meat from the cows that has turned the people into Zombies. The movie kind of reminded me of the comic book DEAD WORLD. The people keep traveling to find more survivors & keep running into more & more hordes of Zombies. This was a very cool Zombie film that any fan of this style should check out! www.DEADMEAT.com
DEAD NEXT DOOR (R) Anchor Bay (1988) Starring: Pete Ferry, Bogdan Pecic, Michael Grossi, Jolie Jackunas, Robert Kokai & more. DEAD NEXT DOOR is about a failed science experiment gone wrong & the dead come back to life. Soon the dead get loose & start infecting others, who die & then quickly return to life as Zombies. The film follows the scientist responsible who try to contain the situation & find a cure, all while still trying to survive the Zombie Apocalypse. All the characters have names of famous people in the Horror industry. It's cool at first, but becomes a little annoying cause they keep saying their names over & over again. All in all though, this was another cool low budget Zombie Horror film! http://DEADNEXTDOOR.com
ED GEIN: THE BUTCHER OF PLAINFIELD (R) Lions Gate Films (2007) Starring: Kane Hodder, Adrienne Frantz, Michael Berryman, Priscilla Barnes, Shawn Hoffman & more. This film is the story of the infamous serial killer Ed Gein. They called him the butcher of Plainfield cause he used to gut & hang his victims on hooks like a slaughter house. Ed Gein is one of the inspirations for the films TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE & SILENCE OF THE LAMBS. Ed Gein would wear human skin & make stuff out of the victims remains. It was really cool to see Kane Hodder playing a character as himself instead of behind a mask. There have been many stories of Ed Gein, but this was definitely one of the better ones. There isn't a real lot of gore, but the gore that is shown is pretty decent. I didn't like the way the film ended, but I believe this is how it really ended! Fans of Kane Hodder or Ed Gein will definitely enjoy this!
FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 7: NEW BLOOD (R) Paramount Pictures (1988) Starring: Kane Hodder, Lar Park-Lincoln, Kevin Spirtas, Susan Jennifer Sulivan, Terry Kiser & more. A new group of people have come to Crystal Lake, many years later since Tommy finished off Jason. Tina & her mom head to a small cabin for some peace & relaxation. They have brought along her doctor to help her confront her past with the death of her father. She discovers she has telekinesis powers & some how brings Jason back to life from his watery grave. Jason comes back & starts with his usual mayhem & carnage he is known for. This is one of the better films in the series & it's the first time Kane Hodder plays the famous masked man. I feel he was the best of them all! If you know this series than you know what to expect from this film. Jason lives! www.FRIDAYTHE13THfilms.com
NIGHT OF THE CREEPS (R) Tri Star Pictures (1986) Starring: Jason Lively, Steve Marshal, Jill Whithew, Tom Atkins, Wally Taylor & more. In this campy & cheesy 80's Horror film a couple of teens decide they will break into a science lab & steal some stuff. When they get there they find a corpse & try to release him from the chamber he is in. They finally get him out, but he has turned into a zombie & starts attacking people. The creeps are little creatures the acting & dialogue are very bad & the special effects are horrible too, but it's a low budget 80's Horror flick, so this is exactly what i expected from this film! If this is the sort of flick you dig, then you will love this one!
THREE.EXTREMES (R) Lions Gate Films (2004) Starring: Bai Ling, Byung-hou Lee, Won-hie Lim, Hye-Jeong Kang, Pauline Lau, Tony Leung Ka Fai & more. Three famous Asian directors come together to create three short films. The first is about a model who wants kidnapped & torture on the set of his latest film, along with his wife by a disgruntle actor! In the last film a pair of young twins are part of a performance act when one of the acts goes wrong during a rehearsal & one of the girls is killed. The other girl is haunted by the girls spirit. These were all very, very good films that had a lot of suspense, gore & great stories with good twists. This reminded me of an Asian version of the great show MASTERS OF HORROR! www.THREEEXTREMES.com
WIND CHILL (R) Tri Star Pictures (2007) Starring: Emily Blunt, Ashton Holmes, Martin Donovan, Ned Bellamy, Jan A Wallace & more. Two college students heading home for holiday break share a car ride together. They don't know each other, but they were both going the same place. They are driving along the & decide to take a short cut down a side road. With the snow coming down heavily the visibility was close to none. They come head on with another car & swerve to miss it & crash in a snow bank. They get stuck & can't get out. The guy goes for help, but returns back with no luck. They start running into different & mysterious people who seem to not know they are there. It turns out that these are all ghost of the people who have died on this road. The film was a little slow in spots, but a bit creepy in others. This was a decent twist on the Ghost story. www.sonypictures.com/movies/WINDCHILL
