HORROR MOVIE REVIEWS
(July 2011)
MAD RON'S PREVUES FROM HELL (R) (1987)
Starring: Nick Pawlow, Happy Goldsplatt, Michael Townsend Wright, Anthony Kelly, Jim Manalo & more.
Mad Ron is a cannibal who runs the projector in an old theater. He along with a ventriloquist named Nick and his
reanimated corpse show 47 different trailers for old Horror films to a theater full of Zombies. Most of the trailers
are for flicks from the 70's & 80's. Some of the trailers include
BLOOD SPLATTERED BRIDE, TEXAS
CHAINSAW MASSACRE, BLACK CHRISTMAS, BLOOD HOOK, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD,
BAY OF BLOOD, THREE ON A MEAT HOOK, LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT, DERANGED, DEEP
RED, TOXIC ZOMBIES
& many more. This was really cool, cause I got to see some trailers of movies I've
seen and loved as well as many others I have never seen before. The skits in between the trailers are highly
annoying and make it hard to watch, but the trailers make it worth suffering through it all. If your a fan of old
70's Horror flicks then you'll want to check this out!
MIRRORS 2 (R) 20TH CENTURY FOX (2010)
Starring: Nick Stahl, Emmanuelle Vaugier, Evan Jones, Christy Carlson Ramano, William Katt & more.
Nick Stahl stars in this second installment of the MIRRORS franchise. Nick is a security guard who is working
the night shift. He some how uncovers a portal through the mirrors to another dimension. He starts seeing visions
of a girl who was murdered in the building. He thinks nothing of it until she starts claiming the lives of innocent
people. He starts researching to find out who the girl is and why she was murdered. This story has nothing much
to do with the original, but it still is a good story. This one was a bit more violent and bloodier than the first one.
I liked Nick Stahl in this flick a lot too. If you liked the first one you'll probably dig this one as well. Just don't
expect it to be anything like the first one. They just called it this to rid off the popularity of the first one.
MY SOUL TO TAKE (R) ROGUE (2010)
Max Thieriot, John Magaro, Denzel Whitaker, Zena Grey, Nick Lashaway & more.
Fifteen years ago a vicious serial killer was presumed dead. Now people who share the same birth date as his
death are being killed off. No one knows if it is the killer or his tortured soul who are taking the lives. Max is one
teen who knows for sure and has his own connection to the horrific crimes. I was really hoping this was going to
be a good movie, because it was written and directed by the great Wes Craven. The film was really slow moving
and kind of bored me a bit. I kept waiting for it to pick up, but it never did. If your a die hard Wes Craven fan
you'll probably like this film, but if not, you'll just see it as another teen Horror flick.

NEVER SLEEP AGAIN: THE ELM STREET LEGACY (UR) 1428 FILMS (2010)
Starring: Heather Langenkamp, Wes Craven, Robert Englund, Robert Shaye, Sara Risher & more.
This is a very cool documentary about the entire
NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET film series. The
documentary contains many interviews with the series stars like Heather Langekamp (Nancy), Robert Englund
(Freddy Krueger), writer-director Wes Craven and more. There are tons of behind the scenes footage, stories, film
clips, rare photos, story boards and lots more. They even cover how the franchise took over pop culture. Wes
Craven also discusses the story behind how he came up with the idea for the original film. There are a bunch of
documentaries out there on different film franchises and this is one of the best ones. It is right up there with
HIS
NAME WAS JASON
based on the FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise. This is an absolute must for anyone who is
even a small fan of the
NIGHTMARE series.

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 2 (R) PARAMOUNT PICTURES (2010)
Starring: David Bierend, Brian Boland, Molly Ephraim, Katie Featherston, Seth Ginsberg & more.
This is prequel to the highly popular first film. I really though the first flick was kind of boring, but still figured I
check this one out. This flick takes place prier to the events that happened in the original film. The film still has
the characters from the first film and really shows how scary and terrifying the demonic spirits are. They haunt
everyone in the house including the baby and the family dog. The husband of course feels the wife is over
reacting, while the whole time the wife is being terrified. This flick was a lot creepier and scarier than the first &
I liked the story a bit more than the original. If you liked the original than your really going to like this one.
