HORROR MOVIE REVIEWS
(June 2007)
BLADE: TRINITY (R) NEW LINE CINEMA (2004)
Starring: Wesley Snipes, Kris Kristofferson, Dominic Purcell, Jessica Biel, Ryan Renolds & Parker Posey.
This is the third installment in the
BLADE series. In this film a group of vampires expose Blade as a menace to
society, when he is set up & kills a human. The hunt is out for him, by basically everyone. The vampire group
finds a secret tomb & resurrects the first original vampire to kill Blade. Once he is brought back to life he goes
to hunt him down. In comes the help of a young group of vampire hunters. The group is lead by Wysler's
daughter (Jessica Biel). Wisler was Blade's best friend who was killed by the government who were in search
of Blade. Also leading the group is Ryan Renolds, who was once a vampire himself. They team up with Blade
even though he doesn't agree, to go after the first vampire & the other vampires in the group, led by Parker
Posey. This was a good movie for the
BLADE series, but the second one is still my favorite!!!

BOOGEYMAN (PG-13) SCREEN GEMS (2005)
Starring: Barry Watson, Emily Deschanel, Skye McCole Bartusiak, Lucy Lawless, Tory Musset.
I wasn't sure what to think of this movie. It didn't look too exciting to me, but it was directed by Sam Raimi
(
EVIL DEAD TRILOGY, SPIDER-MAN, THE GRUDGE), one of my favorite directors. The movie is about
a little boy who is afraid of things in the dark. When he sees his dad get taken by something in his closet. He is
traumatized for life by this event. Once he is older he goes back to the house to spend a night & overcome his
fear. All these weird things keep happening in the house, while he's there. He finally figures out how to defeat
him, but there was a weird twist to it, which I won't say! It was a decent film, but Sam Raimi has done better!
It's still worth checking out!!!

CONSTANTINE (R) WARNER BROS (2005)

Keanu Reeves is a powerful person on earth who has the gift? of seeing angels & demons that are here on
Earth & disguised as people. When Rachel Weisz's sister is placed in a mental hospital & supposedly
committed suicide, she goes to Constantine for help. He helps her to be able to see the angels & demons &

things, but they do what ever they can to influence them though. Keanu & Rachel discover that Satan is trying
to have his son born through a human so the demons can roam the earth freely to reek havoc. The film was
really good, it had a great storyline, special effects & the acting wasn't that bad either.

DARKNESS (PG-13) DIMENSION FILMS (2005)
Starring: Anna Paquin, Lena Olin, Iain Glen, Giancarlo Giannini, Fele Martinez
This movie looked really scary & freaky from just seeing the trailer. There were a few parts that were creepy,
but it wasn't really that scary. It's about a family who moves to Italy from the U.S. into a really old house &
is designed a little odd. The young son is really scared & afraid to be in the house alone & especially in the
dark. The only one who believes him is his older sister (Anna Paquin, who played Rogue in
X-MEN). All
these crazy things start happening in the house & with their dad. He starts talking to himself, getting very
violent & starts doing strange things. After doing some research on the house & Anna finds out there were
several kids that went missing in that house & that the house was designed in shape of a satanic ritual symbol,
that would open up the gates of hell! This was an OK film that has a few twists in it, especially in the end.
They even left it open for a sequel!

HIDE AND SEEK (R) 20TH CENTURY FOX (2005)
Starring: Robert DeNiro, Dakota Fanning, Famke Janssen, Elisabeth Shue, Amy Irving.
This movie looked kind of creepy & a bit scary from the trailer. The story takes place in New York City.
Robert DeNiro & his wife are fighting a lot & going through some rough times. DeNiro finds his wife dead in a
tub one night & their daughter witnesses it. After the funeral that father & daughter move to upstate New
York in a huge house in the woods. After they move all in these strange & bizarre things start happening
Dikota tells her father that it's her new friend Charlie is doing all these things. As more weird things happen
the father becomes very angry & thinks the daughter is doing these things. She insists it's Charlie & then the
movie takes a twist. The film was really good, but it wasn't what I was expecting it to be.

SALO: 120 DAYS OF SODOM (R) CRITERION CINEMA (1975)
Starring: Jennifer Huss, Paul Morris, Jenny Wallace, Amber Newman, Stacey Sparks
This is one of those sexploitation type films that were very popular in the 70's. This one is about a Nazi
military base who likes to do lots of torturing of the people they capture. A Nazi head woman who brings
young beautiful women prisoners to the base for the Nazi men. The men do very bizarre, disgusting &
degrading things to the women. Most of these things are done in a sexual manner. After many women were
severely beaten or killed, the women revolt & go nuts. They all start attacking the men & abusing them &
killing them. The movie was a bit slow, maybe because of having to read the subtitles & a bit disturbing, cause
of all the crazy torture & sex scenes.
THE BROTHERS GRIMM (PG-13) MIRAMAX / DIMENSION FILMS (2005)
Starring: Matt Damon, Heath ledger, Lena Headey, Monica Bellucci, Peter Stormare & more.
I was quite anxious to check out this movie. I'm a big fan of their stories, because they are dark & twisted,
unlike most of the Disney versions. The movie starts out with the brothers listening to people of a small town
talking of a witch that is haunting the village. They take lots of notes & inform them of what they will do &
how much it will cost them. After they defeat the witch it is revealed that it's a set up by them & their
friends. They continue to move from town to town doing this with each new folklore they discover, until they
find themselves in the middle of a real fairy tale. There is a lot of cool special effects & a great story that
mixes little bits of all their stories into one. There is some really good action & comedy parts as well. This is a
good flick, especially for fans who know their stories!!!

CHEERLEADER MASSACRE (R) CALIFILM / JUNIPER POST INC. (2003)
Starring: Tammy Sheffield, Charity Rahmer, Erin Byron, Lenny Juliano, Samantha Phillips & more.
I thought this might be a some what decent horror movie, but I was wrong. This film starts off with this group
of friends at a college, where some of the girls are cheerleaders. They are just finishing up practice & getting
ready to go on a trip to some cabin in the woods. They arrive at the cabin & everything seems to be fine.
other, bad things happen. The friends start getting killed off & no one knows who's doing it. Every time you
think you know who it is, they get killed. There was a lot of poor acting & the story was very bad too. If
they didn't show the first scene you couldn't even have the title of the film. There was no gore & very little
blood. The only thing that was good was a few nude scenes & they weren't even that good!!
!
CUT AND RUN (R) RACING PICTURES (1985)
Starring: Lisa Blount, Leonard Mann, Willie Aames, Richard Lynch, Richard Bright & more.
This is a film from 1985 about a camera man & reporter who head into the jungle to search for a missing son of
a TV producer, looking for a big story. Once they arrive in the jungle they discover many other things. They
run into cannibalism & a major drug war which threatens to take their own lives. They fight & struggle to
cover this story, but stay alive in the process. The movie is a bit slow o start off with & once they discover
the drug war the action picks up a bit. This is an OK film that's OK for one viewing!!!
LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT (R) LOBSTER ENTERPRISES
Starring: Sandra Cassel, Lucy Grantham, David Hess, Fred J. Lincoln, Jeramie Rain & more.
This is one of Wes Craven's first films. In this film two girls go to the city to see a concert. They want to
score some drugs before they get to the show & they are approached by a guy. He invites them into his
apartment. There are a few other people there. Once they all get high, they start to torture the women &
kidnap them in their car. They take them to the woods & continue to do some gruesome things to each of
them. They eventually kill them & on the way home their car breaks down. They stop at a house for help.
revenge on the killers. A very cool & realistic film with a coll ending!!!
