nurse and a psychotic patient. Some how the teens discover the history of the hospital and the pair of ghosts.
The kids try to escape the hospital and not end up in the morgue. This is an atmospheric kind of creepy super
natural Horror flick. It was a decent flick and also has Horror favorite Dee Wallace in it.
DEAD GIRL (R) DARK SKY FILMS (2008)
Starring: Shiloh Fernandez, Noah Segan, Candice Alcola, Eric Podnar & more.
Two buddies decide to skip school and go hang out in an abandoned mental hospital. Once inside the guys go
exploring. When they hit the boiler room they discover something they never expected. There is a naked body of
a young woman wrapped in plastic lying on a gurney. The one guy suggest to the other that they take advantage
of the situation and have their way with the girl. The one guy does have sex with the girl, but the other refuses.
After he has sex with it they realize that the girl wasn't dead, but in a coma. She awakens and freaks out. The
boys decide to keep her trapped there so they can do what they want to her. They soon will realize that there
was a reason why the girl was placed there and sealed up in the room. This was a bit bizarre and creepy but has
a really good twist in the end.
SCARECROW (R) THE ASYLUM (2002)
Starring: Tim Young, Todd Rex, Tiffany Shepis, Jen Ricjey, Roxanna Bina & more.
Lester is a teenage boy who is constantly being bullied by everyone including his mother's boy friend. One
night at a party he is picked on again and he finally snaps. When he goes home takes his frustration out on his
mother's boy friend. During the fight Lester is brutally beaten and eventually killed. The boy friend tries to
make it look like someone else did and hangs the body from a tree in a corn field. His spirit has lived on and has
taken form of the scarecrow that resided in the cornfield. He is now back and is seeking revenge on all those
who made his life miserable. This was a very low budget flick, but still had some kind of cool scenes, with
some good blood & gore with a decent looking killer Scarecrow creature.
SUPER 8 (PG-13) PARAMOUNT PICTURES (2011)
Starring: Joel Courtney, Riley Griffiths, Ryan Lee, Gabriel Basso, Elle Fanning & more.
J.J. Abrams directs this Sci-Fi flick that gives nod to producer Steven Spielberg's early films. Six kids are in the
midst of making a Zombie film with their super 8 camera. One night they sneak out of their homes and head
down to the train station to film one of the scenes for the film. During the filming a train passes them and then
derails itself in a huge train wreck explosion. They all run for their lives, but then later realize they got it all on
film. The military & government have been cleaning up the wreckage and don't reveal that something has
escaped from one of the rail cars. The kids and the town will soon find out what escaped, but it all may be too
late by then. This was a very cool throwback type Sci-Fi flick well worth viewing.

THE DESCENT: PART 2 (R) LIONSGATE (2009)
Starring: Shauna Macdonald, Douglas Hodge, Josh Dallas, Anna Skellern, Michael J. Reynolds & more.
This film starts right off where the last one ended. Sarah Carter escapes the caves and the creatures that dwell
within. She finds someone who takes her to the hospital where she is questioned by police. The police take her
back to where here friends were left behind in the hopes of finding them alive. Once there the police want her to
take them inside the cave dwellings to find her friends. She doesn't want to go, but does. The police are also
guided by other cave explorers. Once again inside the caves the creatures hunt them down and brutally slaughter
and eat them one by one. This second installment is much more violent, bloody and gory than the first and has a
good story and just feels like an extension of the first film.
THE FEAR: HALLOWEEN NIGHT (R) A-PIX ENTERTAINMENT (1999)
Starring: Gordon Currie, Stacy Grant, Phillip Rhys, Myc Agnew, Emmanuelle Vaugier & more.
Mike along with his girlfriend and his friends want to do something special for this Halloween season. They
decide to head to Mike's families cabin home in the woods for a fun filled weekend. Since it is Halloween they
of course have a party and decide that everyone must come dressed as their worst fear come true. Everyone is
having a good time until they get an unexpected guest. Morty is an wooden mannequin that has ties to ancient
Indian roots. He comes to life and decides to make all their fears a reality. They all die in different ways that
reflect what they came dressed as to the party. This was a bit cheesy in a lot of ways. The acting, story and
special effects were all pretty bad and you couldn't wait for everyone to be killed off. Plus the wooden
mannequin was cheesy and was obvious a person in a rubber suit. Might be worth one viewing, might not.
THE LAST EXORCISM (PG-13) LIONSGATE (2010)
Starring: Patrick Fabian, Ashley Bell, Iris Bahr, Louis Herthum, Caleb Landry Jones & more.
Cotton Marcus is a fake Reverend and performs magic and trickery to use against people to swindle them out of
their money. He is going to perform one final exorcism and then quit his evil ways. He invites a documentary
crew to film his last job. He even exposes how he tricks the people who hire him. He shows the way he sets
things up to favor his cause. He rigs stuff up to move in the room to scare the people into believing what they
see to be real. Things get turned around on him when the young girl he is there to help actually becomes
possessed by demons. She attacks people in her own family and now he must do what he can to survive. This
was a bit creepy at times and had an ending that reminded me of THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT.
THE LIVING DEAD GIRL (NR) ANOTHER WORLD ENTERTAINMENT (1982)
Starring: Marina Pierro, Francoise Blanchard, Mike Marshal, Carina Balone, Fanny Magier & more.
A deceased girl comes back to life after an earthquake unearths her tomb and it is also exposed by toxic
chemicals. She then emerges from her tomb and once again walks the earth. She hungers for flesh and blood and
roam the earth to satisfy her needs. She is also in search of her childhood friend and blood sister Helene. She
eventually finds her and they return to Helene's mansion. She wants to help her friend so she decides to lure
people back to her home. She heads down in town and snags tourist to come back and see her home for her
friend to feast upon. This is a French Horror flick that is a bit slow moving at times, but is still good enough to
into these types of films then you'll want to check this one out

VAN HELSING: THE LONDON ASSIGNMENT (NR) UNIVERSAL PICTURES (2004)
Starring: Hugh Jackman, Robbie Coltrane, David Wenham, Grey Delisle, Dwight Schultz & more.
This is a thirty minute animated short that is a prequel to the full length feature live action film. In this animated
film The Knights Of The Holy Order send the monster hunter Van Helsing into the bowels of London to search
out and capture the demonic Mr. Hyde. He has taken the city of London captive as it's people fear the night
because of his alter ego Dr. Jeckyl who at night turns into the monstrous Mr. Hyde. They hunt him through the
night and try to stop him from killing more people. This film does use Hugh Jackman as the voice of Van
Helsing and is directed by Sharon Bridgeman, who also directed the live action film. It has a dark and eerie vibe
and feel just like the live action film. If you dig the live film, then you might enjoy this animated short as well.
The only downfall is there is no Kate Beckensale.
