HORROR MOVIE REVIEWS
(November 2008)
976-EVIL (R) NEW LINE CINEMA (1988)
Starring: Robert Picardo, Stephen Geoffreys, Patrick O'Bryan, Sandy Dennis, Jim Metzler & more.
This is the first film directed by Robert "Freddy Krueger" Englund. This is the only reason I really wanted
to see this film anyway. When ever someone calls the "Horrorscope" hotline they are connected to the devil
himself & given a horrorscope that will eventually come true. The film is done in the typical 80's style of
Horror films. There is a bunch of campy & cheesy dialogue mixed within the Horror & Gore. This isn't a
really great Horror film, but it's still not the worst out there. I was actually hoping for a little more coming
from Robert Englund, but got what I expected from Stephen Geoffreys. Check it out just for the fact it's
supposed to be one of the classic Horror flicks from the 80's
BEYOND RE-ANIMATOR (R) LIONS GATE FILMS (2003)
Starring: Jeffrey Combs, Tommy Dean Musset, Jason Berry, Barbara Elorrieta, Elsa Pataky & more.
Dr. Herbert West is locked up in prison & they think the doctor is under control. When they bring a new
inmate into the prison they want the doctor to examine. The doctor injects him with his serum that another
person has smuggled into the prison. This is where the dead start returning back to life. The newly reborn
zombies cause all the inmates have been transformed. This one follows right along the same path as the other

BOY EATS GIRL (R) ELEMENT FILMS (2005)
Starring: Samantha Mumba, David Leon, Tadhg Murphy, Lawrence Kinlan, Sara James & more.
This is another film that follows the formula of adding lots of humor with lots of Horror. The bad boy of
town is in love with the rich preppy, who's parents don't want him to have anything to do with her. He
attempts to commit suicide & fails, but his mother accidentally kills him. She uses some kind of incantation
to bring him back, but now he is a zombie. He starts attacking people & they start turning into zombies as
well. The whole town starts turning into zombies & attacking everyone. The film is filled with lots of gore &
comedy. I wasn't expecting to like this movie, but it was very cool & fans of zombie films should check out!

COUNT DRACULA'S GREAT LOVE (R) INTERNATIONAL AMUSEMENTS (1972)
Starring: Paul Naschy, Haydee Politoff, Rosanna Yanni, Ingrid Garbo, Mirta Miller & more.
A man is traveling along the country side with 3 beautiful women when their carriage breaks down. They
much walk on foot through the woods to find help & shelter. They come upon a huge mansion & head to the
front door to ask for help. The man of the house lets them stay & begins to tell them a story of the legend of
Count Dracula & that this mansion was once his home. They soon discover that the man is in fact Dracula
seducing each other. Some other people arrive & they tear them to shreds. The film was actually pretty cool
& had a very creepy dark feel to it like most of the old English Horror flicks!
LOST BOYS 2: THE TRIBE (R) WARNER HOME VIDEO (2008)
Starring: Ted Hilgenbrink, Angus Sutherland, Autumn Reeser, Gabrielle Rose, Corey Feldman & more.
This film really shouldn't have been called LOST BOYS, because it kind of tainted the great film from the
80's. The film would have been an OK vampire film on it's own, but they wanted to ride off the name from
the first one. The only real connection is that Corey Feldman reprises his roll as one of the "Frog Brothers".
A new tribe of vampires have emerged & are bent on recruiting new members. A brother & sister move into
town & the girl is sucked into the vampire circle. There are a few cool parts, but the film was a little cheesy
& wasn't as good as it was trying to be!

QUARANTINE (R) SCREEN GEMS (2008)
Starring: Jennifer Carpenter, Steve Harris, Jay Hernandez, Jonathan Schaech, Columbus Short & more.
A reporter & camera man are doing a documentary filming firemen & their daily routines in & out of the
building about an old lady in the building. They don't know what was wrong with here. They send in some
police officers to help out with the situation. The old lady attacks them & they kill her. The government
rabies, that kills the infected & then they return & become violent! This was a very cool, suspenseful &
scary film. It had a little bit of everything that makes a good Horror film. This is highly recommended!

SAW V (R) TWISTED PICTURES (2008)
Starring: Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Scott Patterson, Betsy Russell, Julie Benz & more.
The blood continues to flow in the SAW franchise. This fifth installment continues right where the last film
left off in. The police discover all the bodies from the last film & the only one to survive was the one police
officer, or so they thought. Another police officer survived & he feels that someone else is at play other than
Jigsaw, who is now dead. They think the bloodshed is over, but the deaths continue to happen. A new group
of people are placed in a live or die situation. This one has a different kind of feel, which is more like a
murder mystery with lots of blood & gore rather than a straight forward Horror flick. Another great addition
to this killer franchise. It was left open again to continue the legacy of Jigsaw

THE HITCHER (R) TRISTAR PICTURES (1986)
Starring: C. Thomas Howell, Rutger Hauer, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Jeffrey Demunn, John M. Jackson & more.
In this original flick of THE HITCHER Rutger Hauer is a hitch hiker who kills everyone of the people who
stops to give him a ride. C. Thomas Howell is one of these people. He realizes that he is going to get killed
& kicks the hitcher out of the car at high speed on the road in the desert. The Hitcher keeps killing more
unsuspecting victims. Along the way the police are convinced that Howell is the one doing it. He tries to
escape Hauer, the police & try to convince everyone he isn't the killer. The original is a bit different than the
remake, but I thought both stand very well on their own. If you don't compare the two films you can really
enjoy them a lot more. Enough suspense & action to keep you on the edge the whole time!
THE HUNT (PG-13) IMAGE ENTERTAINMENT (2006)
Starring: Joe Michael Burke, Cliff De Young, Robert Rusler, Mitchell Burns, Amy Briede & more.
A film crew is out on a search for some missing people. The people in the crew are related to the people that
are missing. It was two men & the son of one of them. The one man is very abusive to the child, but only
when his father isn't around. They're in the woods, trying to film a hunting video, that they can market &
sell. They chase a deer into the woods & come across a fenced off area. They dig under the fence & head out
to see what they are trying to keep in. They discover what was kept within the fences & soon meet their
demise. The film is really slow for most of it, but the surprise ending twist makes the film a bit more
bearable getting through.

ZOMBIE DEATH HOUSE (R) DOUBLE HELIX FILMS (1987)
Starring: Dennis Cole, Anthony Franciosa, Dino Paskas, Dana Lis Mason, Ron O'Neal, Salvatore Richichi.
A psycho doctor uses the inmates in a prison that are serving life sentences as guinea pigs to test the effects
of a dangerous virus he invented. Soon after the inmates are exposed they turn into crazed killers & become
the walking dead. At the same time they are emitting highly contagious fluids from their decaying bodies.
After one wing of the prison becomes entirely contaminated the rest of the prisoners start to riot. They are
trying to escape from the deadly zombies, but the government won't allow them to do so. This was a very
bad, cheesy movie that really had now cool special effects, story, acting or gore that would make me want to
recommend this to anyone. Don't be fooled by the title of the film, like I did! You've been warned!
