HORROR MOVIE REVIEWS
(October 2009)
DYING BREED (R) AFTER DARK FILMS (2008)
Starring: Nathan Philips, Leigh Whannell, Bille Brown, Mirrah Foulkes, Melanie Vallejo & more.
A young girl sets out into the Australian back country in search of a mythical creature called the Tasmanian Tiger.
She never returned. Eight years later her sister & some friends head out to find her. The only clue they have to
help them is a photograph of a mysterious paw print. Along the way she tends to finish the work her sister
started in her memory. Once there they run into some bizarre folks. They turn out to be cannibalistic descendants
There are a lot of slow parts in this film, but the creepy & sick parts are a plenty. There is a twist ending, but
some may see it coming. A very cool low budget Horror flick from Australia.

GRUDGE 3 (R) SONY PICTURES (2009)
Starring: Matthew Knight, Shawnee Smith, Mike Straub, Aiko Horiuchi, Shimba Tsuchiya & more.
The story continues in this third installment in the
GRUDGE movies. The story connects the previous two films
together with this one. A young guy who lives in & runs a small apartment complex. He is fearful he will meet a
gruesome death like the rest of his family. Shawnee Smith of the SAW films plays a psychiatrist trying to help
him. Things start to get really strange once a young woman from Japan moves into the building. People all around
from the previous two films. I liked this one better than the second installment, but it's still not as good as the
first film or the original Japanese movies.
MEET THE FEEBLES (R) WINGNUT FILMS (1989)
Starring: Donna Akersten, Stuart Devenie, Matk Hadlow, Ross Jolly, Brian Sergent & more.
This is, I believe, Peter Jackson's second film he made. If you though his first flick
BAD TASTE was really
bizarre & out there, you haven't seen anything yet. The film is about a bunch of Muppet look alike characters
who star in their very own TV variety show. The producer is a cigar chewing sex romping walrus, the star is a
huge hippo. Some other characters include a whining rabbit in love with a poodle, a drug selling bulldog, other
animals doing drugs, having sex, making pron & lots more. Things get even more insane when people start dying &
Jackson style. See where the director of the
LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy started!
PARANORMAL ACTIVITY (R) PARAMOUNT PICTURES (2009)
Starring: Katie Featherstone, Micah Sloat, Mark Fredrichs, Amber Armstrong, Ashley Palmer & more.
This film has gotten a lot of hype through the internet & word of mouth. I was a little leery of if it would be really
experiencing strange noises & voices in the middle of the night in their house. The boyfriend gets some recording
equipment & cameras to see if they can capture anything. They consult a doctor of paranormal & tells her she has
a demon attached to her & it will follow her where ever she goes. As the nights progress more & more happen
things get more & more violent. The boyfriend keeps taunting it to provoke it. The acting was pretty poor & the
film was really slow through out most of the film. It's worth a watch just to see the hype & then you can make
your own judgement! If you hated
BLAIR WITCH then you'll probably hate this as well!

TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (R) BRYANSTON DISTRIBUTION (1974)
Starring: Gunner Hansen, Marilyn Burns, Allen Danziger, Edwin Neal, John Dugan & more.
Sally & her wheelchair bound brother head out to a Texas graveyard to see if their grandfather's remains are intact
after a string of grave robbings. Along the way they pick up a hitch hiker who is covered in blood. They end up
being stuck in the area & need to take refuge in a small farm house. This is where they come face to face with pure
evil in the name of Leatherface. This chainsaw wielding maniac carves up his victims & wears their skin on his
face. This is one of the most messed up & sick films ever made. If you have not seen this classic film then you
shouldn't even be reading these Horror reviews. Tobe Hooper is a legend for this one flick alone, but has done a
long line of greats in the years following! Do the dance for me baby!!!

THE CELL 2 (R) WARNER HOME ENTERTAINMENT (2009)
Starring: Tessie Santiago, Chris Bruno, Frank Whaley, Bart Johnson, Michael Flynn & more.
Maya is an investigator with psychic abilities. She gained these powers after she emerged from a year long coma.
The coma was the result of her being victimized by a serial killer by the name of "The Cusp". The killer is back &
has been taken new victims. She must now use her psychic abilities & connection to the killer to try & save the
next victim. This film was pretty bad compared to the original. It really had nothing to do with the first film & is
just riding on the name of that film. The story & acting were both pretty weak. There wasn't much action or gore
to satisfy most Horror hounds out there, but if you want to give it a watch & take your chances, feel free!
TRUE BLOOD: SEASON 1 (TV-MA) HBO (2008)
Starring: Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Sam Trammel, Ryan Kwanten, Alexander Skarsgard & more.
I'm sure most of you have heard about this HBO hit series by now as it's second season has recently ended. Anna
Paquin plays Sookie Stackhouse who is a waitress in a bar in a small town of New Orleans. She also is a mind
reader & doesn't know how she got these powers or why. It is based in a world where vampires are known & walk
among the humans, but only at night of course. There are two types of vampires that mingle with the humans.
Those who want to live peacefully with them & drink synthetic blood & those who want to feed off the humans
& become the master race. There is a lot of humor mixed in with the blood, gore & nudity. The show is like a soap
opera with lots of cursing, sex & gore. Some of it is really cheesy, but it is still a lot of fun to watch!

ZOMBIE (R) ANCHOR BAY (1979)
Starring: Tisa Farrow, Ian McCulloch, Auretta Gay, Olga Karlatos, Richard Johnson & more.
An abandoned yacht comes floating into the New York harbor & two policemen start to investigate. One of them
gets bitten by a flesh hungry ghoul. The daughter of the missing yachts owner then teams up with a newspaper
reporter to find out what happened to her father. As they find out more & more they are lead to a Caribbean island
where the dead walk among us. There is a voodoo curse placed upon the island that keeps the dead from staying
dead. They are after more & more human flesh. A battle with the blood thirsty Zombies takes place for the
vacationers to stay alive. This is one of the most well known classic Zombie films out there. Check it out if your a
Zombie lover or just a gore hound!
ZOMBIE ANONYMOUS (NR) INSANE-O-RAMA (2006)
Starring: Gina Ramsden, Joshua Nelson, Christa McNamee, Gaetano Iacono, Constantine Taylor & more.
citizens. Angela finds it hard to cope when she is shot by her boyfriend & later becomes a Zombie herself. She
tries to control her hunger for human flesh by going to
ZOMBIE ANONYMOUS meetings. She gets comfort from
other Zombies in the meetings & finds ways to survive in this strange lifestyle. As this is going on there are other
people out there treating the Zombies among us like shit & keep doing some really terrible things to them for fun.
This is really low budget & a different take on the whole Zombie genre. It's worth checking out just for some of
the originality in the story line!
ZOMBIELAND (R) COLUMBIA PICTURES (2009)
Starring: Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, Bill Murray & more.
Jesse is a young college student trapped alone in a world that is over run by Zombies. He keeps making all these
rules on how he can stay alive in
ZOMBIELAND. Along the way he runs into Woody Harelsons character who is
loving the thrill of the hunt for these flesh eaters. They decide to team up & help each other survive & kill a shit
load of Zombies along the way. They also meet up with two sisters who tag along & set out for a supposedly safe
abandoned amusement park. I'm not a big Woody Harelson fan, but this was definitely his best role ever. The
movie has a lot of humor, gore & loads & loads of Zombies. If you were to combine
FEAST & SHAUN OF THE
DEAD
together you'd get something similar to ZOMBIELAND! Highly, highly recommended!!!
