HORROR MOVIE REVIEWS
(September 2010)
9 (PG-13) UNIVERSAL (2009)
Starring: Christopher Plummer, Martin Landau, Crispin Glover, Jennifer Connelly, Elijah Wood & more.
This is a very cool CGI animated film that is co-produced by Tim Burton. In a post apocalyptic world a bunch
of rag doll robots hide in fear of being exterminated by a bunch of violent and dangerous machines. They meet
up with a newly found robot rag doll named 9. Each one of them has a number which is how they are known.
9 convinces them to fight for their survival and helps them fight back against the machines. They take stand
against them to bring their world back to being a peaceful land. This was a very dark and kind of violent film. It
was in no way intended for children. Done in a creepy Tim Burton type way. Very cool, even if your not into
CGI type films. Give it a viewing and enjoy!

CARRIERS (PG-13) PARAMOUNT VANTAGE (2009)
Starring: Lou Taylor Pucci, Chris Pine, Piper Perabo, Emily Van camp, Christopher Meloni & more.
In an apocalyptic world two brothers try to search for a safe haven. There is an infection spreading across the
world that is turning everyone into blood thirsty zombies. The two brothers along with two friends travel
across the country to try and find an area that is supposed to be safe and infection free. In their travels they
come across some other survivors. They don't they are already infected and then the rest of the group slowly
becomes infected and they all start turning on each other. This was another one of those killer virus into killer
zombie flicks. I am a huge zombie fan and dig anything with zombies. This was a decent film that has some
dark humor mixed in. Done in the vein of
28 DAYS LATER, just not as good!

DARK COUNTRY (R) STAGE 6 FILMS (2009)
Starring: Thomas Jane, Lauren German, Ron Perlman, Chris Browning, Con Schell & more.
Thomas Jane of THE PUNISHER & HBO's HUNG stars and directs this creepy thriller flick. Him and his new
wife are traveling through the desert at night back from getting married in Las Vegas. The couple are having a
great time and enjoying the night when they come across a car flipped over and crashed on the side of the road.
They soon find a wounded man further down the road. They place him in the car to take him to get help. Soon
the almost dead man awakens and the madness begins. They have a crazy and scary experience with the man.
The film is pretty intense and dark and makes you feel like your right in the car with all of them.

HALLOWEEN 2 (R) DIMENSION FILMS (2009)
Starring: Sheri Moon Zombie, Scout Taylor Compton, Tyler Mane, Brad Dourif, Malcom McDowell & more.
This is the second part of Rob Zombie's re-imagining of John Carpenters classic film HALLOWEEN. Just like
the original, this film takes place right after the first film ends. This is basically the only thing that remains from
the original. Michal still is after his sister Laurie Strode, but takes out a bunch off people along the way. This
film is a lot more violent than the originals and has a stranger plot line. Michal keeps having visions of his dead
mother, who seems to be pushing him into killing people and to go after the ultimate goal of his sister. I did like
the fact that he was a little more violent than the originals, but didn't really like the rest of the film. I thought it
tarnished the legacy that the original films created. I'm not big fan of too many remakes, this was one of them.

INSIDE (R) DIMENSION EXTREME (2007)
Starring: Beatrice Dalle, Alysson Paradis, Nathalie Roussel, Dominique Frot, Claude Cule & more.
A pregnant woman is about to head to the hospital because of some severe pains she is having. She tends to
think her daughter is a miracle baby after her husband passed away months early. Just as she is about to leave a
strange woman shows up at her door. She claims to be injured and asks if she can come in. The woman tries to
get her some help and then everything turns. The strange woman starts attacking the pregnant woman and
chasing her through the house. She keeps beating her and trying to do what ever she can to cut her baby out of
her stomach. The pregnant woman does what she can to survive and save her baby. There are some highly
intense and violent scenes in this film. There is a lot of horrible things the lady does to the pregnant woman. If
you think you can "stomach" the violence and gore, than you should check this film out!
PANDORUM (R) ANCHOR BAY (2009)
Starring: Denis Quaid, Ben Foster, Cam Gigandet, Antje Trave, Cung Le & more.
Two crew men upon a space craft suddenly awake from hyper-sleep to complete their mission. The problem is
that there are many memory gaps and they can't remember everything. They can't even remember everything
that what ever is on the ship with them is definitely not human. They hear a bunch of stuff crawling through the
ship and in the shadows. They must find a way to survive and they start turning on each other. This was a very
cool Sci-Fi Horror type flick in the vein of the original
ALIEN films with a different kind of twist.about their
mission. They try to find other crew members. In their search they realize that they are not alone and

SCREAMERS (R) COLUMBIA PICTURES (1995)
Starring: Peter Weller, Roy Dupuis, Jennifer Rubin, Andrew Lauer, Ron White & more.
Hendrickson created some man eating mini monsters to fight and kill off their enemies. Now that a cease fire has
been called they still have the mini monsters to stop. They are out of control and can't be contained. They dive
underground and come up only to feed on human flesh. Both sides must now join together and fight a common
enemy. The film reminds me of a Sci-Fi channel type movie, but is a little better produced. The creatures are very
violent and ruthless and add a lot of the action to the film. If you combined the films
TREMORS and
STARSHIP TROOPERS
then you'd have a decent idea of what this flick is like.
SCREAMERS 2: THE HUNTING (R) SONY PICTURES (2009)
Starring: Gina Holden, Janna Pallaske, Lance Henriksen, Greg Bryk, Tim Rozen & more.
Lance Hendriksen stars in this Sci-Fi Horror film. In this second outing a team of rescuers from Earth set out to
answer an SOS signal they received from Sirius 6B. They go to find the survivors from the first film. When they
arrive they don't find many of the Screamer monsters from the first film. They fight them off and eventually find
some human survivors. They soon realize these human survivors may not be who they think they are. The
Screamers have learned to morph into human form and use these disguises to draw in more humans for their flesh
consumption. This second outing put another twist on the film and added some extra intensity. I actually liked
the second film better than the first and it does help that Lance Hendrik sen is in it as well. Both films are pretty
cool, but I guess you could follow this one with out seeing the first film.
SNOOP DOGG'S HOOD OF HORROR (R) LIONS GATE FILMS (2006)
Starring: Snoop Dogg, Ernie Hudson, Danny Trejo, Lin Shaye, Brande Roderick & more.
Snoop Dogg host a trilogy of Horror in this film that is kind of an urban version of CREEPSHOW. There are a
lot of good actors in each of the stories. The first story is about a young grafitti artist who marks murderous
gangsters with the mark of death. Once she tags them they die in grisly deaths. In the second story a group of
war veterans are forced out of their homes by some rich nasty stingy owners. The war vets get their revenge and
the new owners get what they deserve. In the final story a rising rap artist plays up his image to get popular and
then his lies become a reality and he ends up famous, but not exactly how he wanted. All three stories merge into
one another and are narrated by SNOOP DOGG.

THE DEVIL'S TOMB (R) SONY PICTURES (2009)
Starring: Cuba Gooding Jr., Taryn Manning, Valerie Cruz, Franky G., Henry Rollins & more.
A group of soldiers are set out to rescue a military scientist from an underground lab. There have been reports of
strange things happening and people being killed off in the underground lab, but no body seems to know who or
what is doing the killing. As the soldiers head through the labyrinth searching for the scientist they get picked off
one by one. During their search they come across a priest, played by Henry Rollins, who warns them of an evil
spirit unleashed down there that is killing everyone off. They take him as an old rambling fool and ignore him.
Eventually they find the scientist who explains what is really going on, but by then it is too late. This was
another cool military Sci-Fi & Supernatural thriller with some Horror element scattered all through out.
